In a case that spans 20 years, Harry Bosch links the bullet from a recent crime to a file from 1992, the killing of a young female photographer during the L.A. riots. Harry originally investigated the murder, but it was then handed off to the Riot Crimes Task Force and never solved. Now Bosch's ballistics match indicates that her death was not random violence, but something more personal, and connected to a deeper intrigue. Like an investigator combing through the wreckage after a plane crash, Bosch searches for the "black box", the one piece of evidence that will pull the case together.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I am three hours into this and am finding it pretty boring...so far it is a lot of background and the narrator is not interesting...I miss the usual narrators A LOT...

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The least interesting - the narrator

Would you be willing to try another one of Michael McConnohie’s performances?

I have listened to every one and I am really disappointed in this one so far

    Any additional comments?

sorry to be so negarive - I love Harry Bosch

When a childhood friend of Abby's from Denver, Colorado, finds herself short one bridesmaid, it doesn't take a professional psychic to see the opportunity for a much-needed getaway. But one bridesmaid after the next is mysteriously flying the coop, and Abby's intuition tells her their final destination isn't pretty. With the wedding party falling apart and her gift of sight never quite so foggy, Abby has to save the date - and herself - from becoming the next taffeta-clad target.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Although I really like these psychic eye stories, the narrator has an annoying prnounciation problem. She frequestly ends past tense verbs with a t instead of a d pronoucing words like want-ed as want-it and boot-ed as boot-it.

She also leaves the g off of participles pronoucing making as makin .

These errors occur in groups making me assume that it may happen when she gets tired.

I think professional narrators should not make this kind of mistake.

When a hedge fund billionaire hires Stone Barrington to talk some sense into his wayward son, it seems like an easy enough job; no one knows the hidden sins and temptations of the ultra-wealthy better than Stone. But as Stone and his erstwhile protégé, Herbie Fisher, probe deeper into the case - and an old one comes back to haunt him - he realizes that even he may have underestimated just how far some people will go to cover up their crimes…and plan new ones.

    Story

I always look forward to new Stuart Woods books, particularly Stone Barrington books but lately they have not been as good. This story is not interesting. There are mutiple subplots that do not get woven together. The story is very predictable. Everything works perfectly for the main characters and gets done on a time scale that is impossible. There is no depth of feeling shown by any character and overall it is not very interesting to listen to. Sonte Barrington was almost a side character in the story and had little to add or perform. It's sad when one of your favorite authors and characters begins to wander off track.

It is possible to manage and even reverse diabetes through natural means, and in Reversing Diabetes, Dr. Colbert shows you how. Most people view diabetes as a dead-end street - once you receive a diabetes diagnosis, your only option is to manage the symptoms with a restricted diet, close monitoring of blood sugar, and expensive medications. Dr. Colbert shows that diabetes can be treated instead through safe, natural means.

I bought this book because the description sounded like a good medical review of what you could do to reverser type 2 diabetes....then in the very first 5 minutes, the author started referring to Christian values and quoting the bible...I guess I will still listen to the rest but I feel mislead...I thought this was schience NOT religion. I would not have bought a book about religion...

One of the top box-office draws of the 1960s and '70s with now-classics such as The Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape, The Thomas Crown Affair, and Bullit, Steve McQueen is renowned as one of the most exciting actors ever to come out of Hollywood. Now, in Steve McQueen: A Biography, best-selling author Marc Eliot gives unique insight into McQueen's life, from his films to his three marriages, many affairs, and struggles with addictions.

I did not think it was possible to make Steve McQueen boring but in spite of more than adequate writing, the author/narrator does not have an intereting voice. He drones on and you fall asleep fast...I have tried four times to get interested since I love biographies but I can't listen to this one...sorry.

Eve Dallas is the tough lieutenant hot on his trail, but this is unlike any case she’s ever been assigned - or any killer she’s ever pursued. A police sketch based on eye-witness testimony reveals the killer has green skin, swollen red eyes, goblin ears, and a dislocated jaw-structure that defies the human form. Is it a mask? Is it make-up? Or is the explanation more sinister? Dallas faces off against multiple suspects - all of them students of medicine capable of precisely slicing the ears, noses, and eyes of the three victims.

    Story

This Eve Dallas story is not one of JDs best. It has nothing new in it and does not hold the readers interest. It seems rushed and the story has little depth, no location changes, no interesting characters and hardly any inclusion of York. It is not a mystery or an adventure. The author was not creative at all and the story was very short and flat. Sorry.

A teen idol at 15, an international icon and founder of the Brat Pack at 20, and one of Hollywood's top stars to this day, Rob Lowe chronicles his experiences. Never mean-spirited or salacious, Lowe delivers unexpected glimpses into his successes, disappointments, relationships, and one-of-a-kind encounters with people who shaped our world over the last 25 years. These stories are as entertaining as they are unforgettable.

    N. Belle says: "Great Book and Great Story"

    Overall

Based on my scant knowledge of Rob Lowe, I expected this book to be a recital of a risque life with few serious notes. Instead I found a wonderfully written, stong, inciteful story of one actors personal evolution. This is the first book I have read about Hollywood that evoked real emotion and understnading in me. It is well paced, interesting, very real and very well read. Thank You...Write MORE

There is something fascinating or funny or truly bizarre on every page of this true tale of floral obsession: the story of how the head of a famous Seminole chief came to be displayed in the front window of a local pharmacy; or how 700 iguanas were smuggled into Florida; or the case of the only known extraterrestrial plant crime.

    "Good Story, Bad Editing"
    Overall

I enjoyed this story but found the narrator tried too hard and read too fast giveing the listener the feeling of being pushed to listen. Also the editor of Format 4 cut words off when putting the chapters together (about 10 times in the first 48 minutes)..this is extremely annoying! Not a progessional production.

I have really enjoyed (rated 4 and 5) all the Sookie books until this one...this book could have been an epilogue to the last one....there is a very thin plot line, no attention to settings, not much happening and no new concepts or surprises...I was very disappointed...a firend said to me after reading the hardback - It was as if the author had hired some one else to write the book....

You Slay Me is a lusty romance novel with amusing supernatural undercurrents. When courier Aisling Grey is dispatched to Paris to deliver a priceless dragon statue to a rich and eccentric female collector, she finds the intended recipient the apparent victim of a demonic ritual. And that's just the beginning of Aisling's discoveries.

The story is witty and fast...very enjoyable but the narrator is not. She makes a lot of extra noises that I have never heard from a professional narrator. She swallows noisily at the end of almost every 4th sentence and it is not easy to ignore...it is gross...her voices are good though and I did listen to the whole book...but it lost 2 stars due to its narration..I won't listen to more books by the same author if they have the same narrator. How could someone not hear this and realize it was going to affect the listening public? Not everyone is capable of being a narrator...face it.
