I don't understand why its called the secret child when the child was never a secret. A very boring book with little plot and even less of a point. The woman works in a club and the hero gets the hots so he chases after her. Eventually he gets her into his bed and they have a normal relationship eventually breaking up when she discovers he lied by omission. Yawn.

This book recounts the slugger's life before, during, and after his headline season of 1961, when the taciturn North Dakota native topped Babe Ruth's all-time record by hitting 61 homers. From his youth as a star high-school athlete and American Legion baseball player, Maris went on to big-time sports with the Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Athletics, New York Yankees, and St. Louis Cardinals.

It's almost impossible to listen, the narrators voice sounds like a computerized voice, awful.

They met at the Chelsea Arts Ball: he went as a paper parcel and she as a Spanish dancer. Only the eye of love could have transformed plain Miss Dolores Diver into an exotic Spanish Rose. Fat Harry Gibson saw only beauty in her dark hair and sallow features. And Dolores, for her part, thought Harry the man of her dreams.

This is the story of two unattractive people who fall in love and think of each other as the most beautiful people on earth. Its such a nice sentiment and cute story. We have the orphan niece that comes across as autistic in her artistic abilities and the benevolent would be father-in-law that never lets reality get in the way of his comforts. Very British in humor but leaves you feeling better about your fellow man.

The New York Yankees. The Boston Red Sox. For a hundred years, no two teams have locked horns as fiercely or as frequently, and no two seasons frame the colossal battle more perfectly than 2003 and 2004. Now, with incredible energy and access, leading sports columnist Mike Vaccaro chronicles the history of the greatest rivalry in sports, and the two stunning American League Championship Series that define a century of baseball.

Dan says: "Best rivalry in sports, solid listen (Go Sox!)"
    "A mess"

This book goes back and forth way too much. Its hard to keep up with the narrative string. It would have been a much better book if it had any organization.

Sassy, savvy, smart-mouthed bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is back in her and most thrilling adventure yet! She's on the trail of revenge-seeking waitress Maxine Nowicki, who's wanted for theft, extortion and bail-jumping. Those who have seen Maxine keep turning up dead, and that's the least of Stephanie's problems.

The abridged version comes off as rushed and the Debi Mazar is nowhere near as good as the readers for the unabridged versions. She sounds bored half the time and kinda leaves the story dead. Four to Score is one of the more important books in the series so I recommend either reading it or listening to the unabridged audio version. Three stars but the book itself is a five star read.
