    I hated this book. I got through about 1/3 and that was only because we were reading it for book club. The characters were unappealing and the story line boring. someone said it was the best book ever written. They obviously don't read much.

    My daughter and I have been listening to this. i read it years ago and enjoyed it but the audio version is superb. Well read and the characters really come to life. The story doesn't date and suits all ages. try it!!!

    This book is fantastic and the narrators are superb especially the girl. I loved the lisp she gave to the young character. a brilliant concept . much much better than the movie which i quite enjoyed. Really loved the descriptions . Beautiful prose.
