I have enjoyed many other Anne Perry stories, especially those read by Davina Porter. This one was marred by a terrible reading by David Colacci. I will make sure to stay away from any other books he narrates.
I used to love this series but I think this is the last one I'll read. What an ego Kay Scarpetta has developed. No matter what happens she's sure its about her in some way. And all she does is whine throughout the book. If I were Benton I'd go back into the witness protection program just to get away from Kay.
This is not the Agatha Christie I know and love. It is a post WWII "espionage thriller" written by someone who should have stuck with the good old who-done-it.
Reginald Hill is one of my favorite authors but this audio book was AWFUL. The problem was the narrator. I had a very hard time understanding him and also discerning one character from another. In the future I will stay away from anything read by Brian Glover.
It was almost painful to listen to this book. The story is only so-so but Davinia Porter's narration was dreadful. I'm usually a fan of hers but not this time. For a story taking place on Martha's Vineyard why does everyone have a strong English accent? Even the ex-NYC cop sounds like he took a detour through London. When she does vary the accent it's almost worse. A crusty New Englander with a Scottish accent.
Stay away from this one.
Aftermath is a good book but the narration by Ron Keith spoiled it for me. Most of the time he sounded like he had a head cold and his accents were terrible. A big disappointment.
