Charlotte owns a Birmingham bridal boutique. But with her own wedding day approaching, why can’t she find the perfect dress - or feel certain she should marry Tim? Then Charlotte purchases a vintage dress in a battered trunk at an estate sale. It looks brand-new, shimmering with pearls and satin, hand stitched and timeless in its design. But it takes on a life of its own as she comes to know the women who have worn the dress.

Here, she tells the story of the beauty school she founded in the middle of Kabul and of the vibrant women who were her students. When Rodriguez opened the Kabul Beauty School, she not only empowered her students with a new sense of autonomy but also made some of the closest friends of her life.

Indeed, Obama reads as many letters addressed “Dear Jackass” as “Dear Mr. President.” Eli Saslow, a young and rising star at the Washington Post, became fascinated by the power of these letters and set out to find the stories behind them. Ten Letters is an inspiring and important book about ordinary people....

Great book! This really gets at the heart of what Americans struggle with and allowed me to see President Obama in a different light. I appreciate that he takes the time to read these letters and seems like he takes them to heart. I liked hearing the wide range of people's thoughts and opinions about the country and it's future. This is a wonderful book and one everyone should read.
