"This book is certainly no "Going Rogue""
... Thank god it's not. This audio book is so funny. I enjoy the quick random humor. If you do not understand deadpan, sarcastic, witty humor then this book is not for you. If you enjoy NPR, This American Life, The Onion, the daily show, Found Magazine or if you simply enjoy watching Sarah Palin speak (merely for ironic purposes of course) then this is the book for you.
There are a couple points where it is a little dry, but honestly I was laughing so loud I had to shut my office door. Really this book is the way to go.
For those of you who don't quite understand what this book is about let me lay it out very simply, it's a book about lies. Do not take it seriously! He made up all the facts. So if you want to hear some really funny "mostly lies" then this is the way to go.
"Compelling tale brought to lif amazing narrator"
By and large I tend to enjoy the print versions of books more than the audio edition. That's because I hit a slew of bad narrators. For example David Eagleman's reading of
"Neil Gaiman does it again"
I was skeptical at first, but I really enjoyed this story. I also really like the fact that it Shadow spent a good deal of time in the midwest. That was a nice surprise. Also the way that the gods worked was quite impress.
"Simply Brilliant Writing"
I was skeptical at first, but I was hooked after the american stopped talking and the Brit started reading about Sherlock Holmes and Cthulhu. Such brilliant stories!
"Simply Brilliant"
I loved this book. I read it first and then decided to buy it so my dad, brothers and I could listen to it on our road trip. We laughed so hard and made for great conversation about our childhood with him. Sean Schemmel is wonderful with the voices. Simply brilliant.
"He does it again!"
I was driving cross country for Thanksgiving, so I decided to put on some David Sedaris. What a horrible idea. I was laughing so hard I began tearing up. I had to pull over to the side of the road before I caused an accident.
My point is David Sedaris is just amazing, but listening to his audio book and driving is the equivalent to having four shots of whiskey and then hopping in behind the wheel. So just don't do it! Listen him at home or in the gym. Just not while you are driving.
