November 1958, New York. Into the rarefied atmosphere of wealth and tradition at the National Horse Show in Madison Square Garden comes the most unlikely of horses—a drab white former plow horse named Snowman—and his rider, Harry de Leyer. They were the longest of all longshots—and their win was the stuff of legend.

Even if you know nothing about horse jumping you will enjoy this book. Elizabeth Letts pays a lot of attention to details and lets the reader feel they are part of the story. She gives the background and nuance so we can appreciate the struggles and triumphs of a champion. I would have like to know this horse, what a wonderful story.

When world-class biblical scholar Bart Ehrman first began to study the texts of the Bible in their original languages he was startled to discover the multitude of mistakes and intentional alterations that had been made by earlier translators. In Misquoting Jesus, Ehrman tells the story behind the mistakes and changes that ancient scribes made to the New Testament and shows the great impact they had upon the Bible we use today.

I was very impressed with the research that went into this book. It was very easy to understand and very logical. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to know how the bible came to be written.

The book started a bit slow and I was worried it would be a tear jerker all the way. But to my great delight it brighten my day. I have loved and lost a few best friends and this gave me the peace I needed. A wonderful story for any dog or animal lover for that matter.

Ken Follett's World Without End was a global phenomenon, a work of grand historical sweep beloved by millions of readers and acclaimed by critics. Fall of Giants is his magnificent new historical epic. The first novel in The Century Trilogy, it follows the fates of five interrelated families - American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh - as they move through the world-shaking dramas of the First World War, the Russian Revolution, and the struggle for women's suffrage.

At first I thought the reader was a bit stiff but he was able to go from a German accent to a Welsh bough than into an English accent so I forgave the stiffness. The characters soon became real and I saw their lives as they must have been back then and how different each group thought. The book was able to explain the developments to start World War 1 and how it set up for the second War. All this in a very engaging way. I hope for a sequel,
