"Sadly not a Vince Leone story"
No Vince Leone and two much of the main character thinking not action. No comic relief with a character like Frannie from the previous novels and no suspense.
Moneyball
"Puller is a great character - I want more"
As usual, Baldacci does not disappoint. His characters always leave me wanting the next in the series. Can't wait for the next Puller book.
"Story line was interesting, but SLOW moving"
The plot was a good one and the story was interesting, however the writing lacked some element to make the story flow smoothly. I was interested enough in the story to keep listening, but found myself bored with what seemed like never ending repetitiveness that served no purpose but to lengthen the book.
For once, I thought an abridged version might have been a better choice. I'll probably try another book from John Gilstrap as I like the characters.
"Liked the narrator, but found story lacking"
I was bored by the characters and found them to be a poor copy of other fictional characters with similar positions, a police psychologist and a grouchy detective.
"Great characters and story develops quickly"
This book held my interest non stop, the characters are well defined and drawn. The story moves quickly, never a rehashing of the details. From start to finish held my attention. While I had suspicions that I knew who the villain was about half way through, there was still enough doubt to keep me guessing.
I definitely will be listening to more work from Alafair Burke!
"Love it and The Copper Bracelet!"
Fun book with lots of twists & turns.
Was totally surprised at the end.
A smooth reader who is very easy to listen to. A velvety voice.
"Not what I expected from Scottoline"
I expected the fast pace and likable characters I have grown accustomed to in Lisa Scottoline's novels. While the storyline was interesting, I never really cared much about any of the characters.
"One of my all time favorites"
I first listened to this book years ago and it was my first Nelson Demille novel. Since then I have been a huge fan and absolutely love listening to the beginning of the John Corey series over and over again. John Corey is a character you have to love and Scott Brick does a brilliant job bringing him to life. I originally bought this book on CD and was very excited to see it added to the Audible library so that I can listen without lugging around the CDs.
"Plodding and Predictable"
I kept listening, only because I kept hoping something would happen that would surprise me. No suspense for me - the plot was very predictable. It took me a month to get through the listen and I only made it through because the narrator was fairly good.
"Narration is one of the poorest I've heard"
I wish I had bought the written book instead. The narration is toneless, the voice used for Maura Isles sounds like a dead person, and in my opinion, any 6th grade reader would have done as good a job. Just a book read aloud - no imagination or character in the narration whatsover.
