I couldn't make it through killing the dogs, clubbing seals, etc. It otherwise seemed like it would be a great read.
Prior to reading this book, I knew very little about mountain climbing and nothing about high altitude climbing. It gives you a good crash course on the subject without being dry. I had to look up some terms just to get a better idea about the technical aspects of such a climb. Mr. Krakauer attempts to present the 1996 Everest disaster in a both factual and humble manner. His account inspires the reader to ponder questions of life, death, will, and morality. It's a great read.
