  • Days of Infamy

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 40 mins)
    • By Newt Gingrich, William R. Forstchen
    • Narrated By William Dufris

Pearl Harbor is in utter chaos after the unexpected third strike by Imperial Japanese Naval Air Forces, ordered into the attack by Admiral Yamamoto. A victory has been achieved, but is it total victory? Yamamoto is horrified to discover that the Foreign Ministry office of his government has utterly failed in their promise to insure that a proper declaration of war be delivered to America prior to the opening of hostilities.

    Kenneth says: "Wonderful"
    "Utter Joy"

I enjoyed these novels by Gingrich and Forstchen almost as much as the civil war series by the two. Although I will say I did enjoy the civil war series about 10% more than the wwII series. But that being said This series is excellent and well done and well read.

  • By Heresies Distressed: Safehold Series, Book 3

    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Now the battle for the soul of the planet Safehold has begun. The Kingdom of Charis and the Kingdom of Chisholm have joined together, pledged to stand against the tyranny of a corrupt Church. The youthful Queen Sharleyan of Chisholm has wed King Cayleb of Charis, forging a single dynasty, a single empire, dedicated to the defense of human freedom.

James says: "I want Oliver Wyman back"
    "Does not dissapoint"

This third volume does not disappoint. It picks up just where the lst novel ended and held my attention till the last word. Knowing that I would have to wait for the 4th installment I stopped halfway though this novel and re listened to the first two before completing this one to make it last. That is how much I enjoyed this 3rd novel. Well written and exciting till the end.

  • Next

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 54 mins)
    • By Michael Crichton
    • Narrated By Dylan Baker
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Devilishly clever, Next blends fact and fiction into a breathless tale of a new world where nothing is what it seems, and a set of new possibilities can open at every turn. Next challenges our sense of reality and notions of morality. Balancing the comic and bizarre with the genuinely frightening and disturbing, Next shatters our assumptions and reveals shocking new choices where we least expect.

Ronald says: "interesting topic - dull, boring, confusing book"
    "Too Confusing"

Tried to begin this book 3 times each time I became bored with technobabble, and I generally like technobabble. But this had no attraction. Sorry Mr. Crichton, try again.

  • A History of the Jews

    • UNABRIDGED (28 hrs and 45 mins)
    • By Paul Johnson
    • Narrated By Nadia May
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

This historical magnum opus covers 4,000 years of the extraordinary history of the Jews as a people, a culture, and a nation. It shows the impact of Jewish character on the world: their genius, imagination, and, most of all, their ability to persevere despite severe persecutions. Compelling insights into events and individuals are chronologically detailed, from Moses and Jesus to Spinoza, Marx, Freud, the Rothschilds, and Golda Meir.

Jayna says: "well done and educational"
"Would be better in hard copy"

This is not the book to buy as an audiobook. This book needs to be in hard copy. You need a highlighter and some postits. Too much information, some needs to be read twice and the audio book just goes too fast for such a dense subject. I have never made it through, but I have listened to 30 minute sections from anywhere in the middle and its fine wherever you start to wherever you listen to. It does not have to be read contiguously, and I might add it several times has put me to sleep. Also the narrator is kind of monotone and boring.

The passion that furtively develops between them - along with Callie's failure to develop physically - leads Callie to suspect that she is not like other girls. In fact, she is not really a girl at all.

Christopher Allen walker says: "Great Pulitzer Winning novel!"

I bought this book thinking it would be erotic, but it was not that at all. It was very interesting and I am glad I read it. But exciting, I would not call it, nor would I call it dry. I would best describe it as interesting and worth a read.

Tango says: "Best Plot-Driven Novel I've Ever Read"
    "Never finished it"

I really like this books summary, and I enjoyed how the audioboom began, but it became confusing and muddled in the middle and I lost interest. I may go back and try again, but it is not what I would call a clear cut winner, try a different one if you have more choices.

I could not shut this book off. I had to finish it. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Do not begin unless you can finish it. I LOVED this book.
