I love to listen at work! There's nothing better that getting lost in another world while doing data entry.

Roland Deschain and his ka-tet are bearing southeast through the forests of Mid-World, the almost timeless landscape that seems to stretch from the wreckage of civility that defined Roland's youth to the crimson chaos that seems the future's only promise. Followers of Stephen King's epic series know Roland well, or as well as this enigmatic hero can be known. They also know the companions who have been drawn to his quest for the Dark Tower: Eddie Dean and his wife, Susannah; Jake Chambers; and Oy.

Since his mother’s death six years ago, Carter Kane has been living out of a suitcase, traveling the globe with his father, the brilliant Egyptologist Dr. Julius Kane. But while Carter’s been homeschooled, his younger sister, Sadie, has been living with their grandparents in London. Sadie has just what Carter wants — school friends and a chance at a “normal” life.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I did not enjoy this book. The story itself was ok, but I didn't like the way it was written. I did not bond with the main characters and I found other's stupid, (Like the baboon). At times I almost just stopped listening to the book but then I remembered how much it cost and I listened to the rest of it. I will not be getting the next book. The one good thing about the book is that it does not leave you hanging at the end, it wraps up nicely and ties almost all the loose ends.

Why we think it’s a great listen: If you’ve ever loved a dog - or even patted a dog - this book, told from the perspective of man’s best friend, will tug at your heartstrings...and won’t let go until long after Welch performs the last word. Enzo knows he is different from other dogs: a philosopher with a nearly human soul (and an obsession with opposable thumbs), he has educated himself by watching television extensively and by listening very closely to the words of his master.

Would you listen to The Art of Racing in the Rain again? Why?

This book made me laugh, pissed me off, put a lump in my throght, and wormed my heart all in 7hrs. Any book that can put you through that many emotions in such a short time is worth the money. Enzo is truly mans best friend, no matter what is going on in your life your dog is always there by your side when you need a friend. Watch out though it dose have some adult subject matter, I would listen to it yourself before/if you let your kids listen.
