Damaged is an intriguing Canadian medical legal thriller that grips the audience from the moment that a horrified Kate feels remorse that she allowed her fears to overwhelm her sense of decency as she knew the grandma made a strong appeal in the interest of her granddaughter. The key to the story line is Kate who is a classic scaredy cat who ends up in "Hell", which could have broken her or given her a backbone of steel. Fans will enjoy a sort of coming of age tale as the women who always chose flight now must choose fight for the first time in her life against a powerful influential opponent.
The story line is simple, pleasant and sweet. However, the narrator does a horrible job with the different voices.
Every parent dreams of a bright future for their child. When a child is diagnosed with a profound developmental disability, it can be devastating. So it is for Talie Ingram. However, reading the journal left by her ancestor, Cosima Escott, forces Talie to see the truth. When she reads of an ancestral "curse" that seemed to cause feeblemindedness in boys, Talie is put to the test of her life. The author combines a contemporary and historical approach to weave a story of hope, love and faith.
Being a dog lover, this book immediately caught my attention. Savannah Leone stands by as the maid of honor in her best friends wedding, while watching her best friend wed the man that Savannah has been pining for for the past 7 years. She desperately tries to be happy for both of them however this proves to be a difficult task and she drowns her sorrows in vodka and Kool-Aid. That night while watching a Rin Tin Tin marathon and being drunk out of her mind, she goes online and orders a German Shepherd puppy from Slovakia. From there the adventure begins!
The books starts off slow. However you will be richly rewarded with a powerful and passionate story if you stay with it. This book entices the reader with paragraph after paragraph of poetic prose. Then, the author grabs your attention with a spellbinding story that has all of the elements that make you want to begin reading and never stop. His beloved Montana comes to life such that you can hear the constant wind, feel the biting cold, taste the dust of the dry years, smell the sheep pens at shearing time, and see the vast expanses of prarie fading into the impossibly rugged mountains. This book grabbed me and wouldn't let go.
Love's Pursuit takes place in Massachusetts during the Puritan era. Romantic Christian Fiction. Story is very good. Poor audio quality. Poor narration.
Jane Kirkpatrick weaves an intricately beautiful tale about a young girls heart and a gentleman's desire. She pulls you into the story and leaves you with that warm, cozy feeling. I look forward to the next book in the series!
Compelling and absorbing, the story draws you in. Sad premise for a book, heart-wrenching. Surprising ending leave you stunned.
