As the head of his family, Robert Beckford, the Earl of Masten, was accustomed to dealing with various problems his siblings had caused of one sort or another. However, he wasn't prepared when his cad of brother ruined and then abandoned a young lady. To right the wrong, Robert married the girl himself; but his chivalry only went so far. He didn't want a wife, and most certainly not a scandalous one. So, after repeating his vows, he sent her packing, off to a secluded estate and expected her to stay put.

    Story

This book was quite an emotional experience for me because at the heart, it's about how a woman conquered very traumatic personal experiences through grace, endurance, and yes, through love.

Lydia, the heroine, is a woman of strength because of her resilience to the suffering inflicted by all the men in her life. My goodness, I wish it were not so, but this woman was let down by every male with a major role in her life: her father, her only brother and then her husband (& his scoundrel of a brother). She should have been a psychological basket case, but instead we are presented with a mature, independent and loving woman. Lydia has a heart of gold and is absolutely enchanting & sweet!

The hero in this story is no Prince Charming...well, at least, not at first. Robert Beckford, the Earl of Masten marries Lydia at the tender age of 16-years old in order to protect the good name of his family and avoid a scandal. His good-for-nothing, brother Lucas Beckford was found in bed with Lydia and of course, in this society, the woman is always to blame & the male comes out of the scandal unscathed. Lucas abandons Lydia which leaves big-brother Robert the role of sweeping in to fix the problem which is his normal relationship-pattern with his little brother who is irresponsible & a complete rake.

I was angry with the way Robert treated Lydia. For 5 years, he made her stay in a country estate as a bird in a gilded cage, away from society. After his vows and before he sent her off into her exile, he said some very harsh words. During this time, Lydia grows up and develops a strong character. She encounters Robert for the first time since their wedding, at her sister-in law's ball. At first sight Robert becomes enamored with Lydia, but he didn't know she was his wife until it was pointed out to him by a friend. He did not recognize her as she grew up and was now a stunning, beautiful woman he was drawn to. Well, needless to say, Robert seeks her out and the two fall in love.

Robert is a harsh man and he says very harsh things to Lydia that made me cringe. Robert has quite a temper. He's one of those men who are rough around the edges & is definitely an alpha male.

THANKFULLY, Robert does transform and becomes a wonderful, loving husband who gets to know Lydia and realizes how wrong he was in judging her. He becomes her fiercest defender, both of her honor and of her person, when she is in real danger.

There are yet some very emotional twists in this story that emerge and kind of take the air out of you. But, overall, it's a triumphant read.

I was very upset with Robert's brother, Lucas. He was such a jerk to Lydia....and unrepentant jerk. But, at the very end he did transform as a character as well, which I was grateful for. I was so elated that he sacrificed his reputation in the grand scheme that he, Caroline (who is Robert & Lucas's sister), Clayworth (family friend), and Chet (family Friend) as well as Chet's mother engaged in to save Lydia from a new scandal brought about by Robert's vindictive ex-mistress.

This will be one of my favorite books to go back and read over because I love a story with such a huge transformation as the hero, Robert, encountered. You will hardly recognize him from the beginning of the book to the end of the book. Oh, he's still tough & quite the fierce protector, but his energy & love is directed toward his wife. This is a story with a very redemptive ending.

    Narrator:
WOW! I hesitated to listen to this book because I just don't care for male narrators for Regency novels. However, Stevie is a female! And, she is quite talented in her ability to create male and female voices and characters. SHe was just superb! Loved her narration!

    Story

How does a beautiful, good-hearted woman lose her way in life? That's what I kept thinking in regard to heroine, Lauren Grahame, who had just suffered the ultimate betrayal from her husband, Brad, and best friend, Haily. This betrayal lead to a painful divorce and an intense, soul-searching experience which brought Lauren to the biker town of Carnal, Colorado.

Lauren meets the hero, Tate Jackson, gorgeous male specimen, in the biker bar called Bubba's where she was seeking employment as a waitress. Unfortunately, Tate (prospective employer) failed to make a good impression as Lauren overheard Tate saying some awful things about her that he would later come to regret. (OH TATE, YOU DEFINITELY REGRETTED THAT SLIP UP)--I felt so bad for Lauren!!! My heart dropped with what he said about her, especially since she was already going through her painful divorce from her jerk of a husband. Yet, the love affair between Tate and Lauren is one of the most special love stories I have read. What an amazing love story, as both leads take on huge transformations, both as individuals and as a couple.

I was impressed with this book because not only does K.A. give readers two fantastic leads with interesting personalities and backgrounds, but she also gives readers a fantastic community as you can help but fall in love with the people who came to surround Lauren and accept her as one of their own, from the town of Carnal. I'm not sure if it was Lauren's strong, kind spirit that served as the glue that brought the town together, or if it was that she was so special that the town "let her in" to their tight knit community. From Ned & Betty, to Shambles & Sunny, Jim Billy, Wendy, Crystal & Bubba, and so many more!!! Each of these townspeople were pertinent and played an important role in each step of the way as Lauren healed and found her way.

This book is very well written. In fact, it is superb, in that, the action, the suspense of a serial murder looms, and the love development between Tate & Lauren is something to remember. I adored the progression of their relationship. I especially loved their heart-to-heart intimate conversations as they came to be singular to one another. Initially, I was very insecure about whether they were even good together. With Tate's background with his ex, I just didn't know if Tate was the right hero for her, but OMG….I don't know how K.A. can write these characters that you resent and fear at first, and then as you are let into their lives, you come to love them, as I came to love both Tate and Lauren together. Tate gave something back to Lauren that was taken away from her throughout the years, and she found her way back, and her "something special." The ability to have sweet dreams came from the peace of mind that she was completely safe with Tate. Love scenes were steaming hot, and the action at the end was crazy-amazing! I was so shocked to discover who the serial killer was. I wasn't even close! The epilogue was also superb….LOVED Buster and Jonas, and the life Tate and Lauren built together.

THANK YOU KRISTEN ASHLEY FOR AN AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL LOVE STORY!

Narrator: Emma Taylor is EXCELLENT! She did so well with the various accents. She made me laugh with all of her varied voices for the townspeople…OMG, she is talented! This was an excellent audiobook experience!

OH WOW! TAKE ME TO THE BEAUTIFUL BLUFF AND COLORADO FRESH MOUNTAIN AIR!!! WHAT A WONDERFUL AUDIOBOOK!

Nina resides in England and decides to take a 2-week "time-out" from her fiancé Niles. Who is completely oblivious to her emotional plight and needs. She rents an A-frame home nestled in the mountains of Colorado and finds that it's inhabited by the owner Max, who is not happy she's there. Yet, the misunderstanding of this booking is just the right set up for a Mountain Man to fall in love with a chic, beautiful woman whom he challenges to take a gamble on love with him. If it's hard to imagine a Mountain Man and a classy lady, then take the gamble to read this incredible story about recognizing something precious and fighting for it, despite the odds.

Regarding the leads, there were things I loved and disliked about Max and Nina, but I think that's what makes their characters more realistic. Max wields this quiet strength and dominates in a subtle, possessive manner. He's not one to explain his thoughts, feelings or background, even though he seeks to pull down Nina's emotional shields. I loved that Max made his mind up about Nina very quickly and he was determined to make her stay with him….forever. I also loved the little things that Max did. He seemed to touch Nina all the time--the sweet almost subconscious touches throughout the day, and he really listened to the things that were important to her. Also, his endearments for Nina were so darn sexy!!! ( DUCHESS, darlin', and baby).

Now, Nina is simply adorable! She has this effortless charm, intelligence and beauty that captures people's attention, unbeknownst to her. I love that she loves make-up, fashion, coupled with her genuine love for people and her courage get down to the nitty-gritty of issues is what makes her one awesome, strong heroine.

Nina finds herself in a whirlwind as Max sweeps her off of her feet in a love development that evolves around the countless needs of the townspeople who are a big part of Max's life and the bevy of characters from Nina's life who also come to make this one big adventure! Yet, there is also danger, and a murder to be solved and Max and Nina find themselves heavily involved in the solving of that case.

This book is long and if you enjoy really getting into background and character development with townspeople who are larger than life in the mountains in Colorado, then this will be a audiobook dream because Emma Taylor is an excellent narrator as she brings these characters to life! I loved this audiobook! And, since I've been running out of credits fast, it was perfect due to the length.

Lastly, the sequence of events that brought this book to a culminating end was fascinating, and so unexpected! K.A. is an exquisite writer as she keeps readers on their toes. I particularly love K.A uncanny ability to write about alpha males and the sassy, strong heroines who catch their attention. And, this romance between Max and Nina really caught my heart and attention. This story was sealed with an epilogue that was just gorgeous….so fulfilling, so endearing and so beautiful!

If you have not read the first book, "Broken," then I suggest you back up and start reading that book first as you will be lost since "Broken Dreams" follows, and starts where "Broken" ended. It has been a while since I read Broken and I really wish I would have listened to it again before venturing into this one. However, after a while I was right on board with the characters & where all the drama had left off.

First of all, be prepared for a fabulous audiobook. Shirl Rae is excellent. She is one of my favorite female narrators. I especially love the southern accent she provided for Reed. And, NELSON Hobbs….OMG…HOT-SOUTHERN-MAN-VOICE-ALERT. What a gorgeous voice Nelson has! I need to find more audiobooks he performs in! The combination of both Shirl and Nelson made this one sumptuous listen!

As far as the story is concerned, the love development between Reed and Courtney is low on the angst and high on the fun and romance. In fact, this is what I consider an indulgence for the helpless romantic. Reed and Courtney do face personal issues and conflicts brought on by outside sources, however, they are resolved or addressed either quickly or within their proper timing in the plot development. But, the romance between Reed and Courtney is fun, sexy, cute and continuous. The best part is that if you liked Layton and Whitely from "Broken," then you will adore this book because not only does it explore Reed & Courtney's love story, but simultaneously gives you more of Layton and Whitely which is awesome! What a perfect combination for two best friends from NYC, Whitely and Courtney, to fall in love with their gorgeous southern gentlemen, Layton and Reed. This is a sweet romance that takes readers into the beautiful landscape of the Texan countryside, to the range riding horses, to the vibe of dancing in hot night clubs, and two-stepping in town circles.

I recommend this listen/read when readers need a break from more ansty, drama-injected reads. It is all smooth sailing and as Reed & Courtney would put it….it passes the "swoon-worthy" test.

I'm convinced that Jay Crownover can write a compelling story about anything, or anyone, but most of all about bad boys!! As the first book in a new series, Crownover creates a world of contrasts between right & wrong, and the good & the bad when it ones to people, and the life choices they make. But, what I really love about Crownover's writing is her ability to write about incredible relationships between very real, flawed people, and she has more than delivered in this book! I was touched not only by the beautiful & gritty relationship between the leads, Bax and Dovie, but also the theme of family and relationships between brothers that included Titus (Bax's brother), and Race (Dovie's brother and Bax's BFF). "Better When He's Bad" is not only about the choices one makes with limited options and the trajectories those choices bring, but it's also about who brings you freedom. Most of all, I think this is what Dovie did for Bax; she brought him freedom and allowed him to unlock himself from a self-destructive pathway that would have lead him to the grave, or a life-time, in and out of prison.

The balance between the action, plot developments, revelations, and the hot romance is superb. Dovie is an admirable heroine and the way she and Bax connect with one another is passionate, intense, and always feels like there's an expiration date (until the HEA, that is). The need to resolve conflicts driven by the pressure and violence of evil villains equals one very riveting read/listen. I can't wait for Race's story, and even though Bax and Dovie found a beautiful HEA, I'm sure we will continue to hear about Bax and Dovie's love story in the books that follow.

Narrators: Mia Barron and Leland King were excellent. They performed very well. This is a great audiobook. I loved the sentimental intro. music at the beginning and the end of the book….nice touch!

I found an envelope in the mail. No return address. My name on the front, my address. Inside was a check, made out to me, in the amount of 10 thousand dollars. Enough to pay the bills and leave me some left over to live on until I found a job. Enough to let me focus on classes. There was no name on the check, just "VRI Inc.", and a post office box address for somewhere in the city. No hint of identity or reason for the check or anything. No mention of repayment, interest, nothing...except a single word, on the notes line: "You." Just those three letters.

    Story

I think you have to be in a mood for certain books and after finishing up with a trilogy riddled with twists and turns, I was definitely in the mood for something more simple, but still hot. Well, Alpha fit the bill perfectly. It's a rather quick listen, but it's a sumptuous, intriguing story that moves in gradients from sensuality to sexual explosiveness between Kyrie and her mysterious benefactor, V.R. I won't give his name as it's a part of the unfolding details, and games in this story.

Kyrie St. Claire has been down on her luck for a while, starting with the murder of her father. She was definitely at the last of her rope when the checks started flowing in to help her finance her mother's mental health care, as well as her brother's college tuition costs. But, when it was time to pay up, Kyrie was hesitant yet resigned to this fate. What I really liked about this book was the layers that became unfolded as we meet Kyrie's mystery billionaire, one game and sensuous step at a time.

In this love development (because no matter how it started it definitely leads to a hot, passionate love between the two), I enjoyed the time in which Kyrie and V.R. talked with one another, their dates and definitely their sex games. Both leads are sexually compatible and although this is story does NOT include kidnapping, BDSM, or black mailing, it definitely incorporates control as the H leaves the h with limited options. But playing by V.R.' games leads to sensuality, pleasure/pain sex, and very erotic love scenes. But, again, these two are extremely compatible in the bedroom and in their personalities. I loved that V.R. is so into Kyrie….you can tell the man worships her. And, I like how Kyrie seems to challenge and bring out a deeply passionate and intimate lover in V.R.

Although a few reviewers have commented that the story line is simple, it's anything but uncomplicated. The bomb that is dropped is pretty heavy and Kyrie needs to make a decision about whether she can accept V.R., unconditionally. Well, I know that I accepted this book unconditionally and I'm excited about the fact that Wilder is working on a book #2 called "BETA"……WOW!---Can't wait! Even though there is a very sexy-naughty HEA, there is still so much more to explore in the lives of Kyrie and her gorgeous love, V.R.

Narrator: Summer Roberts was excellent. I love that her voice for Kyrie was sweet and sultry. I also like what she did for V.R.'s voice---subdued, yet strong. Tyler Donne performs the POV for V.R. in the very last chapter. He did a good job as he portrayed V.R.'s mildly accented British accent well.

Overall, a great, little naughty read/listen!

And the culmination to this fast-paced, passionate, intense, emotional romance comes to a beautiful conclusion! I'm really impressed with K.Bromberg as a writer. She gave us a love riddled with complexity, very likable characters, fantastic supporting friends/family, and an endearing quality with "Rylee's boys" that made this both a fiery, but very satisfying read. At the end of this book, readers are left with a sense of triumph followed by one of the best epilogues ever!

The leads, especially Colton, make such substantial, personal growth that I don't think I will ever appreciate how much work it took for a hero to master his demons and to be able to say the simple words of, "I love you" to his heroine. And sweet Rylee how beautiful and well deserved her HEA with Colton came out to be. YES, all of the heart-aches in this love was definitely worth it!!!! When listening to this book, I would recommend to maybe not read in public because you may just catch yourself crying without notice. Seriously, K.Bromberg writes scenes with extreme tension that are sorrowful, tragic and portray an unbelievable sense of loss, then she will give readers these fantastic highs that are brilliant and bring such relief that I don't think you can help but shed a tear here and there.

The love between Rylee and Colton will be a classic in my library. The things that made their relationship so sexy-fun, sweet and romantic included their banter about being over/dressed underdressed, having ice cream for breakfast and pancakes for dinner, "A-Z," non-negotiables, voodoo "p", and hard & fast/soft slow…..yes, these are sweet insiders. I also loved how they communicated through music when words were not enough. And, who could forget the need for super heroes---"Batman/Superman/Spiderman/Ironman"--OMG, that was so emotionally jarring!!!

Even though this was the final installment, there were so many highs and lows, twists and turns that I almost felt whiplash at times with all of the developments, but that's what made the ride to the finish line so serene and fulfilling. What a great trilogy!!!! I'm so glad I was able to devour these right after the other.

Narrators: Bravo to Tatiana Sokolov and Sean Crisden! They performed very well and contributed in making this a great audiobook!

The only thing I did not like about this story was when the hero used the F-word with Christ or Jesus Christ. I always find that distasteful, offensive, and unnecessary.

OH MY!!! Where do I begin with this one???? Well, let me start by saying that K.Bomberg writes some very riveting, emotionally jarring scenes and this book starts off with one.

In Fueled, we get some of Colton's POV narrated by Sean Crisden who did an amazing job (loved his performance). Colton's POV was raw, honest and he's such a MAN….LOL--
It was great to get his candid, gritty, vulgar thoughts throughout this emotional roller coaster relationship.

I felt for Colton because of the reason behind his duality of natures….Colton can be romantic, charming, funny and playful, but the way he distances himself from Rylee can also be considered a form of emotional abuse…at least that's what it felt like to me. Colton is a tortured man due to his past and readers are given a glimpse of that nightmare, and it was awful. But, I loved Rylee because she was able to love Colton and be strong for the both of them when she needed to.

Colton fears the verbal acknowledgement of commitment, but in reality Colton is committed to Rylee. From the moment he met her, there's no one but her. It was so funny to listen to Colton talk about Rylee's "voodoo magic" on him (I'm conveying that in a real tame terms since Colton uses other words…hahaha).

Both leads have extreme challenges, but I loved it when they were together enjoying the glory of their love. Their chemistry reminds me of the scene in Agua Para Chocolate, where the two leads come together and everything around them burns up in fierce flames….well, that's what Colton & Rylee's love is like…IT'S FREAKEN HOT, DESPERATE, CONSUMING, ON FIRE!!! And, their make-up sex is even hotter.

Some of my favorite parts included how Rylee dealt with the is how she deals the "biotches" that followed Colton, especially Tawny. Rylee doesn't hold back & I LOVED her sharp tongue. I also appreciated the friendship of Becks to Colton and Hatty (sp?) to Rylee. And, who could forget Rylee's boys??? Zander and the rest of the boys are endearing and amazing.

This book ends with another startling incident which will push readers to quickly devour the 3rd and final installment……Although this book brought me a lot of angst, it also brought about some relief as both leads grow and make progress in their love.

I loved their banter, their verbal sparing, and their inability to fight the strong pull toward one another. Colton, a famous race car driver finds himself smitten with Rylee, who he meets at a fundraiser for the purpose of building a home for boys in the fostercare system. Rylee runs Corporate Cares, where she oversees the care and wellbeing of 7 boys along with her staff.

Rylee and Colton meet through this chance encounter and their roller coaster ride of a relationship is all extreme highs and lows from there. Both have scared pasts, but Colton is definitely more broken. He is a beautiful man who is tortured by his past; a consummate playboy who is insists on his own rules when dating women. But, Rylee throws this man for a loop, because she's not like any of the other women he typically dates. And, I thought it was genius of Colton to bind Rylee to himself through this contract between their corporations where she was to accompany him to various events to promote and fundraise for the new boys' home as an agreement for a million dollar donation from his corporation---VERY SMOOTH COLTON!!!!

Rylee is beautiful as well, a strong woman with a heart for hurt boys with amethyst colored eyed and dark locks of hair. The woman is a sight, and Colton knows she is something special; someone who deserves more than he can give her, but that doesn't stop his pursuit of Rylee. I loved how Colton pursued Rylee. He was charming, funny, playful, and insistent, yet he was also emotionally distant, hurtful and closed off. This book ends with a MAJOR cliffhanger (lucky for me I just plowed through with book 2), and I was left wondering if Colton was worth it for Rylee. Yes, the man is gorgeous with his green eyes, hard body, and charming way, but with his mood swings and warnings to Rylee seemed something to weigh carefully. I wondered if it was better for her to find a boring, traditional guy instead of dealing with the pain she was in for with Colton……well, since I've read the end of the trilogy all I can say is YES, Colton is definitely worth Rylee's investment of the heart!!!!

Narrator: Tatiana Sokolov was great! I loved her performance. She made this audiobook one enjoyable experience!

Hudson and Laynie are an interesting couple, yet I felt as though I had to have as much patience with the couple, Laynie in particular, as they did with each other while working on their relationship. Laynie made a lot of stupid mistakes in this one. Mistakes that were "no brainers." Hudson would set a boundary saying, "let's not cross this line (so to speak)," and what does Laynie do???? She crosses the dam line!! But, I felt for Laynie because although Hudson was loving toward her, he still kept secrets on the lock down and with Laynie's curious nature & history, that was not a good combination. I felt for Laynie because she's really trying to make this relationships successful, but struggles due to her past issues, so she over-analyzes and scrutinizes everything much more than the typical heroine due to her obsessive-type of disorder. In this book, the dominant theme is trust. Laynie will learn what women in Hudson's life to trust, at the same time as she's building trust with Hudson himself. The best parts are when Hudson and Laynie come together for their sexy-time and when they overcome emotional hurdles together. Both Hudson and Laynie learn major lessons in this book, but again as we go into the next and final book, I feel as though Laynie has not learned from all of the lessons in this book. For that reason, I'm going to hold off on reading the final installment, until I feel patient again.

Narrator: Carly Robins was excellent and delivered in her performance.

Stalking and restraining orders are a thing of Alayna Wither's past. With her MBA newly in hand, she has her future figured out - move up at the nightclub she works at and stay away from any guy who might trigger her obsessive love disorder. A perfect plan. But what Alayna didn't figure on is Hudson Pierce, the new owner of the nightclub. He's smart, rich, and gorgeous - the kind of guy Alayna knows to stay away from if she wants to keep her past tendencies in check. Except, Hudson's fixed his sights on her.

Wow! I thought the concept and character development in this book was unique and interesting!

Laynie is definitely an unlikely heroine. In fact, in another fictional book she could very well have been the villain starring as the psychotic, obsessive ex-girlfriend. Yet, there is something vulnerable and appealing about Laynie who is very capable and smart as she recently graduated with an MBA, but who struggles with an obsessive relationship disorder that has brought her much pain and suffering. I really liked Laynie who is sincere, giving and introspective. She's cautious in her relationships as she does not want to fall into past destructive habits.

Hudson Pierce, our gorgeous CEO refers to her as "exquisitely beautiful and incredibly smart." In his proposition to Laynie, he was always up front about his desire for her, but made it clear that they were to engage in two separate realities. But, when both Laynie and Hudson have trouble keeping these realities separate, that's when this love train really starts to pick up speed!---I loved it when Hudson's own personal story and struggles emerged….Wow, talk about layering a story and making it both HOT and psychologically interesting!!! Both Hudson and Laynie have a steamy, sexy chemistry that makes it hard for them to keep their hands off of one another, and makes theirs one smoldering, erotic relationship blended with an emotionally evocative theme, due to each of their pasts.

I have to admit that initially I was turned off by certain descriptions like Laynie's frequent references to "her sex" clenching, swelling, or twitching, and then when she described her pants as being so tight that it gave her "camel toe", I was like "UMMMM NOOOO! Girl, what were you thinking????--Camel toe is NEVER sexy or attractive!!!!" LOL, I'm glad I overlooked those tiny annoyances along with others at the beginning, because as the book progressed it got really good and I became fully immersed in both the characters' struggles and ecstasies. The plot moves forward nicely with plenty of unfolding revelations and people in Laynie and Hudson's life that makes this one riveting read! I'm glad it's a trilogy to fully explore and enjoy this developing relationship between Hudson and Laynie that is ON FIRE and quite special.

Narrator: Bravo to Carly Robins!!…Wow, This woman is talented!!! She did an excellent job in conveying strong emotion in the dramatic parts, and her overall performance made this audiobook one great listening experience!
