I know i have a different review on a newer war of the worlds but this is the original. Orson welles is a brilliant man who knows how to put together a masterpeice
I listen to it at least once a week lying in bed just before i go to sleep and it never gets old. Based off a book, Orson Wells made a great science fiction novel become reality for the nation. something that as far as i know has yet to produce as much a nation wide reaction.
i highly recomend that everyone should listen to this peice of american classic entertainment, and remember the good ol day before "video killed the radio star" (buggles)
Jason now knows where Percy must be. We join Percy in making his way down to the Roman camp. ITS HUGE full of families and they still dress roman. The Romans have traditions and though most are similar they are very different. Percy makes new friends and there is a face he knows but he is not sure how. its driving him nuts.
Amnesia, the son of Jupiter no wait Zeus. Wait this is very confusing and where is Percy. To many questions to few answers. whats with the gold coin/magic sword spear thing.
The earth is waking, giants are coming back, and so are the dead. Heroes had it hard before. well that was easy compared to now good thing they had a warm up game and new demigods to help.
Days left till the final battle. Demigods prepare to fight the impossible war that is coming and the Gods are busy fighting another threat. How do you win a war with the Titans when the Gods are not there.
a exciting end to the series. with twists no one would expect. Just a few more hours till you get to the end make sure you have time to listen to this because its going to be painful if you have to stop lots while you listen.
One more challenge. Why cant summer camp just be normal. Oh yeah Percy Jackson is a demigod one of the few at camp half blood. and when the evil Titan king is raising and he hates you and your camp. well you got to fight for survival. Defenses are up but there is one disadvantage. A secret door into the camp will let monsters in past the tree.
In this book Jesse Bernstein makes a change up. He goes from pronouncing Hera the American way to pronouncing it the Greek way. this is a big confusing moment to listeners but after a while you get use to it
What happens when a recruitment mission goes bad, and that your best human friend gets kidnapped. Percy would chase after her and try to get her free. when everyone else goes on the quest Percy has to stay. and when he tries to run way Mr. D catches him. what will Percy do?
They stopped the father of the Gods from raising up, But they did not end his scheming. Now the tree that protects the valley is poisoned. Grover is in Percy's dreams and the end of the camp is near. Percy has to stay back as his rival in the camp gets to go on a quest to save camp. Does he behave or sneak away to save Grover and the tree.
Again the narration is fantastic. Everyone knows who is talking at any point and the voices are the same from book one making it just as easy to follow. another book that's great for family or solo.
Rick Riordan has created a great story that merges Greek Mythology with the modern world. Did you know that the Greek Gods have moved to america? that they still have demi gods? Those demi gods have a training camp (no Danny Daveto does not train them). What happens when the symbol of Zeus is stolen?
Jesse Bernstein does a great job narrating this story making sure that every important person in the story has a great and unique voice. his skills make it so that its easy to follow the story and powerful enough to keep them entertained.
This be a book for your kids on a long car ride or for your personal listen I think you will enjoy this book no matter where you are, or what you are doing.
What would you do if you saw your dad blow up a ancient Egyptian artifact? doubt I would be as cool and calm as these two kids. especially after learning out i can do magic, that a god wants to kill me as well as other magicians.
With the help of a Goddess, and the two gods hidding in these sibblings they will take on this evil god. but will they submit to the demands of the gods inside them to take over or can they hold them off.
What i love about this book is that when is Sadi telling the story Katherine Kellgren is narrating it. and when Carter is telling the story Keven Free takes over. making it feel much like you are actually hearing the tape recording of them telling everything. this gives it a great added perk from reading the story.
my only down side is after the two series i have hard of Percy Jackson well, this is so similar that I can predict lots that are happening. they also hint in this about the Olympian gods in New York.
the Capital has fallen, Alera the fury who now serves Octavian is slowly dying as a result. before she goes she must teach Tavi everything she can. with a army of Canim and Alera men is there enough to make a difference when the vast empire of the Canim could not win.
with the capital fallen everyone is running to Calderon Valley. Why? well Bernard was smart enough to prepare while the lords played silly games of politics. and while there under the eyes of two great furies will the final battle of Alera, Murrat and Canim take place, if Tavi can make it in time.
the queen Vord also has furies though, and hers gets stronger as time goes on. will tavi be capable of taking of the queen? or will he fail. we shall find in one epic battle with between the queen Gaius Octavian and his totem relation Kitai.
Tavi has declared his claim to the throne, no longer is he Tavi but Gaies Octavian, grandson of the High Lord. yet for his safety he must leave his nation, if his mission is successful he can prove he is worthy of the throne. he can use furies now but he is not talented enough for much. and he is keeping it a secret. few know, his closest allies.
when he gets to the foreign land he finds that the queen has settled, and that very very few Canim are left. they are trying to defend and the blood magic is not enough. Octavian now must convince the Canim to leave their ancestoral home and come to Alera in order to survice.
at home the original queen is invading and Alera was foolish enough to not listen to the warnings so they are unprepared to fight. a host of insects that with each new breed are able to adapt to the changes the forces offer. monsters with speed to match air furries, skill to match metal, strength to match earth furries. Yet Sextus has a plan of his own. and Bernard with his own efforts has valley is fortified. now a slow retreat to the capital will there be a home for Octavian and his army to return to?
Kate Reading does another fantastic job reading this book. and is one that you can read over and over again. well listen over and over. and she keeps you captivated the entire time.
