"a cure is found"
Eddings with his wife have just left us off with the knowledge that the Bhelliom is the only way to cure the queen.
he continues the quest with his nine companions, and yet more of Azash's evil creatures are hunting.
David eddings has a great way to sum up the first book in his prolog without loosing the quality of the story. Greg abby does a great job of picking the right voice for each of the ten party members. well everyone except Flute.
A great continuation of a fantastic series
"Danger lurks in a distant land"
Sparhawk and his friends are needed again but in a far away land to help with a dangerous threat that seems to be spreading into their part of the world
when asked to go help the Tamul Empire with the crisis Queen Ehlana comes up with a way to help.
This novel is a great addition to the Eddings first trilogy my only issues is that with a change of narrator some of the names are pronounced different. the main difference i noticed is Talen, the first trilogy is pronounced as a birds claw, this new guy pronounces it with a strong A.
City names and other characters have the same difference as well. but if you can get over that then you will enjoy this book
"the power of a gem"
The Goddess Aphrael has revealed herself and Sparhawk has the Bhelliom. with the quest almost over and the tool needed to restore his queen to health you might think that the story is almost done.
But the restoration of Queen Ehlana to full health is just the start. with Martel and Annias working together to put Annias on the throne of the church Sparhawk has a few loose ends to tie up.
what Sparhawk does not know is that the loose ends will end with one of his most dangerous and deadly quests.
hopeless sieges, love, political battles, and death of a beloved character will conclude this trilogy with a great adventure and a super surprising ending. a must listen and a instant love
"The classic that shook the world"
I know i have a different review on a newer war of the worlds but this is the original. Orson welles is a brilliant man who knows how to put together a masterpeice
I listen to it at least once a week lying in bed just before i go to sleep and it never gets old. Based off a book, Orson Wells made a great science fiction novel become reality for the nation. something that as far as i know has yet to produce as much a nation wide reaction.
i highly recomend that everyone should listen to this peice of american classic entertainment, and remember the good ol day before "video killed the radio star" (buggles)
"a interesting tale without a sparkling twist"
i was actually recomended it to read and was impressed with the novel, i recomend that she should listen to it as well
"the queens champion has a mission"
on his return from exile, Sparhawk a Pandion Knight finds the newly appointed queen is deathly sick, the Preceptor of the order and his tutor of magic has joined with eleven others to entomb her in a case of magical diamond to preserve her life. the Primate Annias churchman of the city in blocking there every move to become the head of the whole church.
David Eddings strikes out with a new adventure, where magic can be learned by anyone but the race of Elene people so anti magic they get vicious, even its church does not believe in magic. but the four orders of the Knights of the Church has special permission to learn the magic of the Styrics.
to be able to change his magic to fit into this new world is amazing. it is so different from what he had before. I absolutely love the way he makes the quest important and with a set timeline.
feel free to start with this book the personalities are great and the Eddings do a great job of creating so many different cultures in a novel with each race having its quirks.
"still no CIA coverup"
Robert Ludlum has done a great job showing of the dangers of the CIA doing something so dangerous that miss information and manipulations of David Webb will lead to a mess.
when someone is pretending to be Jason bourne the real jason is tricked into hunting the old jason down. bring him in and find things out. but when the CIA is to scared to ask David for his help they kidnap his wife. bad move. so now David has to go to China and hunt down a man trained to kill just like bourne would pretend to kill.
but the CIA have things go wrong very fast and so disaster strikes all over.
"So much better then the movie"
to start off if you loved the movie for the illegal CIA actions, the dark government secrets and all his hand to hand skills. Then be disappointed
Very few things from the book are shared in the movie. instead of the CIA training a assassin to go and kill potential political threats they, well i wont really say that would be a big spoiler.
Jason does have amnesia and is trained in many different skills, including hand to hand and weapons training. he is also a master of disguise.
the only problem is that everywhere he is going some group is trying to kill him. but why? with the help of a Canadian economist named Marie (the movies got her profession wrong too, big surprise) they work together in finding out who Jason Borne is.
"two old enimies are now allies, will it work?"
The former nation of the USSR is now weak, struggling, and trying to survive the collapse of Communism, but they have luck, the struck gold, literally. with a huge gold mine and a oil well big enough to rival the middle east the new Russian nation has high hopes. but so does the PRC.
In the final novel of the Ryan universe Tom Clancy makes it worth it. old KGB enemies are working together with CIA men. the elite NATO team of Rainbow six goes to Russia to help train the Russian military in counter terrorism.
many of our old friends in his whole series come back to help out and we end with a few laughs, cries and we know the world is safe.
tom clancy tried to write a few years later with another novel but gave up before finishing the story.
"A book that inspired the video game series"
This is his first book Clancy wrote that does not have Jack Ryan even mentioned by name. if you fallow the series you know who he is, but if you don't and just want to start here, well there is a few hints that lets the rest of us know.
Knowing how scary but effective Clark and Chavez are then a whole book dedicated to this amazing team would make things even better.
Clark puts together a team of some of the greatest military units. they are training for two teams of counter terrorism. the cold war is over and there are not many terrorists active anymore but its always better to be safe then sorry.
A former KGB agent is hired to go to his old contacts and stir things up, unknown to him there is a new anti terrorist unit in town.
Some of the things that are different in this Clancy novel compared to most of his others is that its more even a read all the way through and not a snowball effect.
If you never have read a Clancy novel before this is a great one to start with, it has the excitement and adventure and is a great bait to the lure.
