Exact to the point.
I am a big fan of Martha Beck. This book is a more evolved work from the original Find your Northstar. She is very pragmatical on her approach to real life struggle, she is very well articulated and researched and always uplifting without promising fairy tales. I am a life coach myself and always feel very inspired by her work.
It is one of the books that has impressed me most lately. I enjoy the fact that helps you look at things in a different way, it makes you reconsider some of your own opinions and behaviours. When I read it, I saw so many little ways in which I could be a better person, more approachable, and certainly a lot more understanding with myself.Brené not only explains the theory and science behind the topic, she is also very good at including real life stories that most of us relate to. Her approach is very kind, understanding and practical. I liked it very much.A book everyone should read at least once in a lifetime.
Yes, it is simple and down to earth. As a basic approach to the problem is quite good.
Disappointment. Easy to read, good as a first approach to the subject, good tips on how to control chaos, but it only tackles the surface of the problem. At the end, it is another set of Time Management advises, but as such, it is very enjoyable and practical.
The problem is that procrastinator's problem is not what to do when they get in action, the problem is what prevents them from getting in action.
Fast and furious
1. Too many details and descriptions of touristic places, some parts seem a travel guide. 2. It is ok to misguide readers, but suddenly changing everything in 2 pages seems odd and a bit of cheating. 3. The big question remains: what's the point of all that treasure hunting and clues? The second part of the book dismisses the need of the first part.
Great for fast readers, but if you take your time and question why and what for....you realize Brown's craft at writing best-seller formats is unquestionable, the mix of interesting data as a way to lead the treasure hunting is very interesting, but it seems like he had all this information well organized and prepared to guide from one point to another and then he had to add a context and hurriedly made something up while looking for effect, but it really doesn't blend in well.
Intelligent idea, frantic reading, great material for a special effects movie, but disappointing plot coherence.
I would certainly recommend this book. Sometimes it becomes a bit repetitive, but the insistence in drilling the rules is wise.
The chapter about filing documents, that is my everlasting nightmare.
From chaos to peace.
I don't know yet because I haven't been practising the meditation techniques offered
Maybe, but not as a priority
Meditation, meditation, meditation
I was hopping for more information of actual experiences and possibilities.
Not really, the information is interesting but it doesn't lead to many conclusions.
The problem is that 90% of the information is about what does not work, what make our mind a misleading tool, what won't work....but nothing about what does work.
He read too fast, you don't really have time to absorb the information.
Not for me
I started listening to it 3 times, I had to concentrate a lot to understand what was going on (english is not my first language). But in a long journey I persisted and then I got hooked. It is Stephen King at it's best: profound, artfully constructed, disturbing, loving...
And the narrator is so good. She makes a wonderful performance. This book is not easy to read, let me assure you...but she makes a work of art of it.
All in all....a wonderful, amazing experience. I couldn't close my mouth from amazement while I was driving and listening to such a beautiful story.
Very ingenious and believable. Although it is a children story it keeps the interest up all the time. Well written and intelligent.
Looking forward to reading the sequels.
This was my first book by Fern Michaels and I am not tempted to read any other. The book starts interestingly enough but it soon becomes absurd, there is no real storyline, no thrill or mystery, no depth. No character is strongly constructed and the end is soooo absurd and simplistic!!!A true disappointment.
