I loved having two readers - one for the old Jacob and one for the young one. I don't want to say why I liked this book so much because that would give away the ending. Just give it a listen - you won't regret it. It was a pleasure to listen to from beginning to end. I am still smiling - I love the old Jacob!

The first several hours of the book were unbearable for me. I fell asleep multiple times and kept having to go back and listen to it again. That being said, once they got on the life boat it was a very pleasant listen. There was not much suspense, since we know by the description that Pi lives to tell of his adventure. It is enjoyable to listen to - the voice, the accent, the description. Pi is a funny & delightful character to follow through the book.

Listen to this book over and over - it is a way to start your day and to end it. I leave it on in the car and my children even listen to it.

This is a great listen. The reader is wonderful to listen to - his voice, accent, interpretation of characters, etc. I would recommend that you read Pillars first, which I did not do. They are both very good. This is a good story about midieval England that gives you a bit of history along with a dose of fiction. He clearly spent a lot of time researching this subject which makes the book particularyly worth listening to.

When I purchased this book I had no clue what it was about...just chose it off the best seller list b/c I was intrigued by the title! A good story and even better to listen to. The story itself was wonderful - I had much sympath for all of the characters. My son has some of the same issues as the character, so I completely understand the mother's frustration. I also am more sympathetic to the the child's thought process as well. It is a quick listen and you can't go wrong. Enjoy!

Being 47 and with 5 children aged 7 to 17, I find this book a little unrealistic for someone at my stage of life. More than that, I simply did not enjoy his tone throughout the book. He seems to have a life filled with activity, but little substance. As I listened, I kept wondering what was the matter with me that I had no desire to do all of the jet setting and globe trotting. Call me boring, but I would rather stay in one place and build long term relationships with my family, neighbors and friends. Yes, I do want my children to have some really neat experiences (trips to Africa, Alaska, whatever...), but not at the cost of growing up disengaged from my friends and family.

There were some good suggestions to maintain control of your work and clients, however, I am already employing most of them.

Terrible book to "listen" to...maybe better to read.
