Elizabeth Peters brings back beloved Egyptologist and amateur sleuth Amelia Peabody in an exciting tale set amid the ancient temples and simmering religious tensions of Palestine on the eve of World War I. Once again the Peabody-Emerson clan must use all their skills and wiles to find the truth, prevent a bloody holy war, and save their son from the clutches of a nefarious enemy in this wonderfully engaging tale chock-full of thrills, mystery, and daring from the inimitable Elizabeth Peters.

    Story
What made the experience of listening to A River in the Sky the most enjoyable?

Very good narrating as always but this story takes place before both Ramses and David were married. David was engaged at the time. Really don't know where this story falls in the series, but not 19th.

The Queen of England has concocted a plan in which penniless aristocrat Lady Georgie is to entertain a Bavarian princess and conveniently place her in the playboy prince's path, in the hopes that he might finally marry.

But queens never take money into account. Georgie has very little, which is why she moonlights as a maid-in-disguise.

"This was so much fun to listen to."

Would you consider the audio edition of A Royal Pain to be better than the print version?

I did not read the print version. I love audio because I can listen any time. When I cook, clean or ride for long distances in the car. Just listened to several chapters while at the doctors office waiting room.

What did you like best about this story?

The narrator did a wonderful job of the different accents. Makes you want to live in London or Scotland back then, but only if you were Rich!

    Which scene was your favorite?

I always like Georgi's encounters with Darcy. He is like her Guardian Angel.
    Any scene with Georgi's grandfather.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    Both
