the story has several problems...none of them solvable. the dialogue is so bad that i found myself actually embarrased to be listening to it.
plus,the narration is awful.
Big disconnect between the quality of writing for the worried mother v. the men in the novel. I enjoyed the mother's part, but the cop and kidnapper were such total cliches. I caught myself wincing and rolling my eyes.
not my usual kind of book, but i very much enjoyed it. the narration is superb....possibly the best i've ever heard. this audio book is well worth the credits.
jack reacher is cool, i get it. lee child's reminds you of it every 5 minutes. it got to be a bit campy with all the quiet tough guy cliches.
also, the story is pretty far fetched. i do not understand this writers appeal.
started off strong...but faded fast.
great story, great characters, great reader
the story has its problems, but you grow to like the characters so much that it doesn't matter. oh, and the reader is fantastic. all in all, a fun read...
the previous book "the girl with dragon tattoo" started off slow and laborious but eventually picked up speed and delivered a great story. this book, however, stayed slow and laborious. larsson inundates the reader with massive amounts of unnecessary details. at times, it bordered on the ridiculous.
good story, great characters, and some excellent dialogue. the main character's dark sense of humor was delivered spot on by the reader.
