"One great book"
Pratchett is among the best authors I have ever read, in this book we are taken back to the Discworld's geatest city and find out what happends when "movable type" is allowed to walk the streets. A great edition to the series.
"Now this is where the series startes to take off"
Here we have the introduction of John?s character, and the beginning of the best part of the series. It is such a great listen to, and one cannot help buy want to travel to Germany afterwards. More Nancy Drew style mysteries that are repeat listens!
"Not the best of the set"
We are now at the middle of the series to date, and this book was a bit of a disappointment. We fall into a pattern, and for some reason this one just got a little slow for me. It?s still a very good story, and I like where it took the characters, but his one just took its toll on me.
"I was SOOOO happy with this book"
Ok I will admit that after the third book I was getting REAL familiar with the formula of the series. I was chalking it up to the fact that I plowed through the whole series in one go, but this one changed my mind. Of course we have the great-established set of characters that we have come to love, but we also have a very different end to the book. It does not clean up neatly, and I must say that I still love John?s ?Marry Poppins? comings and goings.
"THE edition of the book to hear"
First off I first got the other edition of this book. I loved the charactors and the story, but with picking up the second book read by Barbara I was much more in love with the series. I HAD to get this reading, and I plead with you to pick up this book. You will love it!!! Very much a good old pulp story with a treasure hunt and all. A Nancy Drew for adults!!!
"Not his best, but that is still better then most"
Pratchett looked to be running out steam here. It is one of the last of the Rincewind novels, but still a good read.
"Oy ,talk about a long drawn out read..."
Um...well....I don't think that this was nearly as powerful as they were saying.
"What more can one say."
Read it, love it. This is a book I got the week it came out, and have read it three times already. It is just a good popcorn read that takes you on a rollercoster ride from start to finish. If you like a bit of fact and history with your mystery then this is it.
"Better then I thought it would be"
It's dated charm was quite rehreshing. A simple story with no real magic, but compeling none the less.
"And so starts The Watch"
This was at one time my least favorite books of the series, but after listening to it again, it has moved way up the list. Here we start "The Watch Cycle". Where we have most things set in the major city on the Disc, and have the author seams to have the most fun.
"The most moving of the series"
Even among fan groups of the series where everyone has his or her own favorite characters, but many consider this the best book of the series. The wonderful moving and hilarious story of Death as he takes a holiday is an enchanting story that culminates in a wonderful climax that stays with you long after the book is done. Truly Discworld at is best.
