"Good enough story"
It's a good, easy listen and has some entertaining parts. I didn't love it, but I don't feel like I wasted my time.
I liked the way the author illustrated the mental and emotional struggle of R.
The narrator did a decent job differentiating the characters, but he kind of whistles his 'S's and sometimes it gets pretty annoying. I'm not sure what makes someone who does that decide to narrate an audio book or who in their right mind hired him, but it was a little distracting and I had to stop listening a couple of times.
"I fell in love"
Destiny. Sacrifice. Love.
I have never experienced another book that could even come close to comparing to The Time Traveler's Wife. The plot is so original and the story is told so well that it makes you believe that there might actually be someone out there who time travels.
This book left me stunned on several occasions and I actually cried two different times at the end. I fell in love with Henry and Claire's love. This book really makes you cherish the moments you have with those you love and it offers a new perspective on what it truly means to love another person.
"short, but very sweet"
I would listen again when I need that reminder of how good the simple moments in life can be.
It wasn't as much the actual narrator as it was the people being interviewed. I loved hearing the stories from the people who actually lived them.
I did listen to it all in one sitting. With it being abridged, it was only about an hour long and I listened to it over my lunch break one day.
"LOVE this series!"
It was my least favorite of the series, but I still loved it! I could never have anticipated the twists!
"The intensity continues!"
There are so many twists that come out of nowhere and just when you think you might have it figured out, it twists again! Downloading Mockingjay as I type!
"Didn't want to stop listening!!"
This is the first novel I have listened to and I loved it!! I read in a lot of the other reviews that the narrator was "too old" to voice Katniss, but I didn't get that at all. Of course she wasn't a 16 year old girl, but I think we can all be thankful for that. I could have listened to this all at once if I had the time!
I don't want to spoil anything for someone who doesn't know the plot of the book, but let's just say I got a little choked up at the Reaping ceremony.
I thought she portrayed Haymitch very well and I could always tell when someone different was "speaking"
YES!! And I will probably listen to it again just to bide my time until I get my next credit to spend on the next in the series!
LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! I couldn't get enough.
"boring. uninformative. unoriginal."
This book might be enjoyable for people who have never understood basic concepts such as getting up in the morning and exercising before work. The reader/author spoke so slowly that I couldn't even stand it for my entire drive to work this morning. I would be able to stick it out if I was gaining any new information whatsoever, but I wasn't. In the evening after work is a hectic time when you're tired and don't feel like doing anything?? No way!
I will probably re-listen to Tina Fey's "Bossypants" because she taught me more about success than this book could even dream of. And she was joking most of the time.
If the reader had any inflection or excitement in her voice. I kept thinking it might get better and maybe there was some valuable information coming up, but I doubt if there was nothing worth hearing in the first 20 minutes, the rest of it would have disappointed as well.
The joke about looking forward to a mason jar full of wine at the end of a long day gave me a chuckle.
Save a few dollars and look for a podcast on this topic or read a blog. Nothing worth paying for here.
"I mean, it's Tina Fey. Of course it's good!"
Tina is telling her own story and conveys it perfectly! It's like having a friend in your car telling you a really interesting story.
This was my first audio book, so I don't really have a comparison just yet. It's good, tho, trust me.
She is reading it herself, so you get her voice, her inflection and you can't misunderstand anything that was intended to be sarcasm because you can hear it in her voice.
If I could have listened to this all at once, I would have. As it is, I will definitely listen again and again.
It's just as awesome as she is, so if you like her, you will like this.
