Would you listen to Speaks the Nightbird again? Why?

Yes! Just to see what clues I may have missed the first time.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    Mathew

Have you listened to any of Edoardo Ballerini’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    nope

    Any additional comments?

I've never heard of Robert McCammon before listening to this book. Nor have I ever been very interested in detective type mystery stories. So you can imagine my surprise at how much I enjoyed this book. A friend recommended it to me, and I sort of reluctantly began to listen.

The narrator is very good, he tells the story with flavor and portrays each character with depth and intelligence.

    A very good read!

This is a tale of sorrow, a tale of survival, a tale of one man's search for meaning in his universe, and how that search, and the indomitable will that drove it, gave birth to a legend.

If you could sum up The Name of the Wind in three words, what would they be?

    Endearing....Intriguing....Heartful

Who was your favorite character and why?

Kvothe of course...he's the main character but the wacky professor was pretty cool too.

Have you listened to any of Nick Podehl’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was the first of his performances I've listened to and I thought he did an excellent job.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely! I liked it so much I've listened to three time already. This one and the sequel. I can't wait for the next volume to be released. I absolutely loved the story, the flow, and the performance.

  • World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War

The Zombie War came unthinkably close to eradicating humanity. Max Brooks, driven by the urgency of preserving the acid-etched first-hand experiences of the survivors from those apocalyptic years, traveled across the United States of America and throughout the world, from decimated cities that once teemed with upwards of 30 million souls, to the most remote and inhospitable areas of the planet.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Not sure if I'd say it was time well spent, it wasn't the worst book ever...it was interesting.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

No huge reaction. It's not a shocking ending.

What aspect of the narrators’s performance would you have changed?

The narrators were ok...I think it was the story that left something to be desired.

Could you see World War Z being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

It was made into a movie. Except the book and the movie are completely different. I think what shocked me the most was how little the book and the movie actually had in common.

    Any additional comments?

It was an ok listen. Not the best or the worst ever. Just eh...ok.

Over the course of his 60 years, Christopher Hitchens has been a citizen of both the United States and the United Kingdom. He has been both a socialist opposed to the war in Vietnam and a supporter of the U.S. war against Islamic extremism in Iraq. He has been both a foreign correspondent in some of the world's most dangerous places and a legendary bon vivant with an unquenchable thirst for alcohol and literature.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If it wasn't so boring. The author's monotone mumbling was more sleep inducing than Michael Jackson's Jesus juice. lmao

What was most disappointing about Christopher Hitchens’s story?

    Christopher Hitchen

How did the narrator detract from the book?

    His monotone mumbling voice.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Hitch-22?

    The author.

    Any additional comments?

While I respect and share many of his political and religious views, his book truly sucked.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Got 40 hours to kill? You’ll find the time when you start listening to Lee’s take on Follett’s epic – and widely celebrated – novel of 12th-century England. The Pillars of the Earth tells the story of Philip, prior of Kingsbridge, a devout and resourceful monk driven to build the greatest Gothic cathedral the world has known...of Tom, the mason who becomes his architect - a man divided in his soul...and of the beautiful, elusive Lady Aliena, haunted by a secret shame....

So hard to pick a favorite scene, but when Tom Builder died I literally screamed out loud LOL much to the shock of my co-workers LMAO

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Johnathan's discovery of who he really is....I cried my eyes out
