It’s ho, ho, ho time in this hilarious and wacky Florida holiday tale, featuring bighearted psychopath Serge Storms and his sidekick, Coleman. Like Santa, Serge knows who’s been naughty and who’s been nice. Few can give with the generosity and creativity of Serge, and as December 24 rolls around, he is filling up the Serge sleigh with an unforgettable bag of presents. But before that, it’s all a big free-range Christmas office party, where Serge will be spreading his special cheer. And there’s that last-minute go-for-broke spree at the mall (just beware of those attacking elves - they bite).

I love this author and the performance was great. Only problem is, I just can't get over the Joe Peschi voice of Serge.

If you’ve never read a Repairman Jack novel, this is the place to begin. It’s 1990. A twenty-one-year-old named Jack has dropped out of college, leaving his old life behind to build a new one in New York City. Manhattan’s rough edges are jagged enough to shred any unwary newcomer, but perhaps not one who is determined to stay off the grid, at any cost, in the busiest metropolis on earth. And to do so, he’ll have to take jobs of a less than legal nature.

For some reason I played is book before I went to sleep and always lost my place. T I found the voice of the narrator somewhat snarky and sarcastic.

A long-buried family secret resurfaces when one of Aloysius Pendergast's most implacable enemies shows up on his doorstep as a murdered corpse. The mystery has all the hallmarks of the perfect murder, save for an enigmatic clue: a piece of turquoise lodged in the stomach of the deceased. The gem leads Pendergast to an abandoned mine on the shore of California's desolate Salton Sea, which in turn propels him on a journey of discovery deep into his family's sinister past.

The Pentegast series never disappoint me. I enjoy the narrator as well. Maybe I shouldn't rate it so high but these stories always entertain me. The characters c are easy for me to follow and the plot has enough suspense to keep me happy.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Trenton, New Jersey’s favorite used-car dealer, Jimmy Poletti, was caught selling a lot more than used cars out of his dealerships. Now he’s out on bail and has missed his date in court, and bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is looking to bring him in. Leads are quickly turning into dead ends, and all too frequently into dead bodies. Even Joe Morelli, the city’s hottest cop, is struggling to find a clue to the suspected killer’s whereabouts. These are desperate times, and they call for desperate measures.

I happen to enjoy this series...it is not going to expand your mind but somehow the story and characters soothe me like a comfortable pair of shoes. Nothing new here from the previous 20 but if you enjoy the series, you will enjoy 21. Same book different number.

Like I said, I happen to enjoy the series and will continue to look forward to 22.

The hero of John Kennedy Toole's incomparable, Pulitzer Prize-winning comic classic is one Ignatius J. Reilly, "huge, obese, fractious, fastidious, a latter-day Gargantua, a Don Quixote of the French Quarter". His story bursts with wholly original characters, denizens of New Orleans' lower depths, incredibly true-to-life dialogue, and the zaniest series of high and low comic adventures.

Would you listen to A Confederacy of Dunces again? Why?

I read it in the early 80's and still read it over

    Any additional comments?

This is a fun listen. Sadly the author died after writing this. The main character is so well fleshed out I thought it was based on the author. I looked up the author and he is nothing like his character. For years my father and I debated who would play Ignatious. Not just famous actors but stranger too. ...."he would make a good Ignacious".

I love writers like Carl Hiasson, Dave Barry and Tom Dorsey. I always hate to compare authors but this book satisfies my need for that genre. Wil Whaton's reading was a pleasant surprise, I bought the book on someone's recommendation thus I pass it on to you,

New York Times best-selling author Charlaine Harris has re-imagined the supernatural world with her "spunky" (Tampa Tribune) Southern Vampire novels, starring telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse. Now, for the first time, here is every Sookie Stackhouse short story ever written - together in one volume. The stories include "Fairy Dust", "One Word Answer", "Dracula Night", "Lucky" and "Giftwrap".

How could you not love a series with characters named "Vampire Bill". Even some old college mates love this book. I would have thought them too "highbrow".

If you are not sure if you are going to like this series, start with this book for a taste.

    BTW- narration is outstanding.

Dimension of Miracles is a satirical science fiction novel first published by Dell in 1968. It's about Tom Carmody, a New Yorker who, thanks to a computer error, wins the main prize in the Intergalactic Sweepstakes. Tom claims his prize before the error is discovered and is allowed to keep it. However, since Tom is a human from Earth without galactic status and no space traveling experience, he has no homing instinct that can guide him back to Earth once his odyssey begins - and the galactic lottery organizers cannot transport him home.

Some of the reviews say the series is getting old…wall yes but I still enjoy the series. It is predictable but I love it just for the fun of it. So if you mind the same story told again and again but love the series, give it a listen. I think if I were reading the book I would have given up long ago but Loreli King does a great job.
