At last, one of the world’s greatest works of science fiction is available - just as author Stanislaw Lem intended it. To mark the 50th anniversary of the publication of Solaris, Audible, in cooperation with the Lem Estate, has commissioned a brand-new translation - complete for the first time, and the first ever directly from the original Polish to English. Beautifully narrated by Alessandro Juliani (Battlestar Galactica), Lem’s provocative novel comes alive for a new generation.

In her first novel since 2002, Nebula and Hugo award-winning author Connie Willis returns with a stunning, enormously entertaining novel of time travel, war, and the deeds - great and small - of ordinary people who shape history. In the hands of this acclaimed storyteller, the past and future collideand the result is at once intriguing, elusive, and frightening.

    What disappointed you about Blackout?

No resolution. You have to get the second book to finish the story. One should have been warned of this or it should have been ONE book.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I am listening to Cold Shot

Have you listened to any of Katherine Kellgren and Connie Willis ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Blackout?

    Hmmm?

    Any additional comments?

It and All Clear should have been one book.

  • Winter of the World: The Century Trilogy, Book 2

Winter of the World picks up right where the first book left off, as its five interrelated families - American, German, Russian, English, Welsh - enter a time of enormous social, political, and economic turmoil, beginning with the rise of the Third Reich, through the Spanish Civil War and the great dramas of World War II, up to the explosions of the American and Soviet atomic bombs. As always with Ken Follett, the historical background is brilliantly researched and rendered, the action fast-moving, the characters rich in nuance and emotion.

What made the experience of listening to Winter of the World the most enjoyable?

Another hit for sure. This is another great story. I can't pick any single item, I guess the fact that it follows history. Like Michener he ties the story to actual history and it just makes it gripping.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lloyd I just identified with him very much.

Which character – as performed by John Lee – was your favorite?

    He does them all well

If you could take any character from Winter of the World out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Mabel, because I just think she was hot.

    Any additional comments?

    Can't wait for number three!!
