Dynamic dialogue can turn an otherwise ordinary novel into a delightful read, but dull, uninspired dialogue will cause readers to lose interest and try something else. In this book, bestselling author William Bernhardt, renowned for his handling of dialogue, explains his techniques for making characters come to life through their words. He explains the importance of matching character and dialogue, of avoiding dialogue that's “on-the-nose,” and the value of using dialogue to suggest what no one will say aloud.

Emma is content. She's got a promising career in front of her, great friends, and a pretty amazing family. But her love life has been a little lacking lately. That's when fate steps in, and she crashes into a tall, dark, and handsome man - Teren Adams. He’s single, successful, an extraordinary gentleman, but he’s also secretive. And some of his secrets are more unusual than most people’s. For instance, he’s a "little bit" vampire. He has fangs, incredible hearing, unbelievable speed, and, on occasion, he enjoys drinking a steaming cup of blood. But he’s also very much alive.

I love the way the book started out but I admit; I could not finish it. The book could have been condensed by at least a third without loosing anything from the story and I felt the character spent to much time fretting and creating problems that weren't there. Some good concepts but to much padding!

I admit, I did not realise it was such a short story when I bought it and after listening to it I feel I have wasted my time on what I could only sum up as some silly porn fantasy with little imagination. If your going to put the alice in wonderland twist on a tale, it needs that spark of whimsical crazy. 'Down the Rabbit Hole' lacked the magic that sticks in your mind and forces you to rethink a concept over and over.

I thought this book was really sweet, fast paced and I enjoyed the character development. I rolled my eyes at a few things: the little sisters mark and the main male running from roses. But otherwise, this was a really well thought out, lovely book.

Katie Chandler had always heard that New York is a weird and wonderful place, but this small-town Texas gal had no idea how weird until she moved there. Everywhere she goes, she sees something worth gawking at and Katie is afraid she's a little too normal to make a splash in the big city. Working for an ogre of a boss doesn't help. Then, seemingly out of the blue, Katie gets a job offer from Magic, Spells, and Illusions, Inc., a company that tricks of the trade to the magic community. For MSI, Katie's ordinariness is an asset.

The romance in the story was slow moving and bland. 4 books in and the couple are still trying to form a deep connection, which is a shame because the narrator is humorous and light hearted, which I usually enjoy. Overall the characters just left me rolling my eyes and the romance lacked the heat that could have made up for that. It felt like I was listening to the toned down love story I'd relay to my bible bashing mum.

I thought the concept of re-building the broken kingdom was brilliantly executed. Though the second book did feel a little tacked onto the series and lacked a strong connection to the trilogy its presence in this book was still a pleasant one.
