"Patrick Rothfus fails to disapoint again!"
Rupert Degas does this book justice!!! but the story probly would've been just as good with a lesser narrater than he, absolutely get this follow on from the 1st amazing book!!! this book is among a rare few that made me want to drive all night to finish it.
"Give the diggers a go!"
I really enjoyed this book, mostly because i consider myself an australian patriot. And because the history of australian democracy just well might have been a boring story, if it wasn't for the union of hard done by gold diggers standing up against the incompetent brittish governor of victoria, the unfair treatment of diggers and the ludicrous gold licence fees. The savage brutality of the red coats is absolutely appalling. A good book for any one interested in the facts of the bloody eureka stockade.
Another great book by peter fitzsimons
"K9 out of 10"
Not being the biggest dog lover, i still felt this book was a good read. It took me a little while to really get into it. The intro to the main characters almost had me stopping the book and listening to another, but i bit through it (pardon the pun), and it turned out to be a entertaining listen. Almost made me want to get a dog.... Almost.
"North and South"
Great book. Held my attention all the way through, so it deserves a minimum of 4 out of 5 just for that. Nothing entertains me more, than learning about different countries histories through fictional characters, set in non fictional events. And this is a great story set in the civil war, which has eluded me for some time. I'll definitely listen to the sequels to this book.
"Tito Ihaka... The detective every city needs!"
I try to read all the bad reviews before making my mind on a purchase, but there weren't any for this book. I'm a bit of a fan of a good detective story, so naturally it appealed to me anyway.
Turns out to be a cracker! Tito Ihaka is a blunt, but to the point, no BS kind of detective. David tredinnick does his voice absolutely perfect!!! apart from the occasional lapse of the new zealand accent. In my opinion, 5 out of 5 in all aspects.
It'd be good to see all of the tito ihaka book series on audio too!
"Fair dinkum mate! this book kicks ass!"
Well.... to think i nearly gave up listening to this book after about an hour! i found it hard at the start to really get into it, but WOW!!! this is a book that you'll have trouble pressing the stop button (after the 1st hour). Rupert degas is the key to this book coming alive, his performance is absolutely outstanding. Patrick rothfus, you sir, are a genius!
"The japanese's shamefull past!"
Great story! being an aussie, this book really hit home with only 6 survivers left, out of over 2400 australian & brittish troops.... a death rate of 99.8%!!! their accounts of the japanese barbaric & brutal torture of them, truly saddened me to tears. Every one should learn about what the japanese did to their P.O.W's in world war 2, such a disgrace. my only gripe about this book is that there were too many personal opinions from the author for my liking!
"Another great listen from Peter Corris!!!"
I've listened to around 350-400 audiobooks now, while driving road trains all over australia, & the one thing that really helps time fly on the road, is a good audiobook! especially ones that can hold my attention like this book, or any other books from the Cliff Hardy series for that matter. Peter Hosking's narration is absolutely brilliant! The way Peter delivers his narration really brings the characters alive and makes it a fantastic book that is hard to put down.
More please!!!
"Why aren't there more of Peter's books on audio???"
Like my headline suggests! this book is just 1 of Peter Corris's fantastic Cliff Hardy series & i just can't get enough of these books. In my opinion, the narration can make a good audiobook, & the performance of Peter Hosking is flawless, & makes it hard to not listen to it all in 1 go!!!. Obviously the storyline has to be good too, & Peter Corris has yet to fail in keeping me entertained while on the road, & being a truckie on the long haul, i really appreciate a good audiobook like this one!!! More please!
"Another great Les Norton adventure"
Bloody oath mate... Les's adventures always help the time fly when trucking along the boring outback highways of australia.
Just about every thing. Les norton seems to have a bit of bad luck, & then again he manages to pull himself out of the sh%t.
Yes, in just about all of Robert G. Barrett's other books. Dino's voice does Les's character justice & is a treat to listen to.
Definetly the heathen harletts girl rock band!!! coz any red blooded aussie bloke would love to have 5 good sorts around for dinner!
This book is just another example of Barrett's awesome Les Norton series.
