Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas". As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. She lost some fingers and toes, but she survived, and famously testified that her 15-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, Ben sits in prison, and troubled Libby lives off the dregs of a trust created by well-wishers who've long forgotten her.

I struggled all the way from first depressive sentence! The narrators were terribly slow
and boring...pretty much like the story itself really.

I have just downloaded the last unread book of John Saul! I love his books, although they can be so alike in many ways, they are also so different and you can never really guess how it's going to end. His chief characters don't always win!! I love every one of them.

I found these books a little boring....tho' i listened to the entire series anyway. The narrator, to me, seemed to put the wrong intonations on words and sentences, and each story seemed to be 'finished & explained" two or three times during the reading, before a 'twist' lead into another half a dozen chapters. All in all i found them readable.

There isn't much fun in the sun when a billionaire real estate tycoon is found murdered on the Tilt-a-Whirl at a seedy seaside amusement park in the otherwise quiet summer tourist town of Sea Haven. John Ceepak, a former MP just back from Iraq, has just joined the Sea Haven police department. The job offer came from an old Army buddy who hoped to give Ceepak at least a summer's worth of rest and relaxation to help him forget the horrors of war. Instead, Ceepak will head up the murder investigation.

I listened to the series and loved them all. They have good story lines, and the narration is "sassy" - if a male narrator can be sassy, lol. I got a lotta smiles and head nods at the comments from Danny Boyle! Would recommend this series, but read 1-7 in order...much better!

I did enjoy the story despite being disappointed that it was all really just a love story - since I found it in the Thriller section, I had expected much more... I kept imagining a made for tv movie on 13th Street!
However all in all, it was interesting and the narration was was easy to listen to.
