Carol Burnett is one of the most beloved and revered actresses and performers in America. The Carol Burnett Show was seen each week by millions of adoring fans and won 25 Emmys in its remarkable 11-year run. Now, in This Time Together, Carol really lets her hair down and tells one funny or touching or memorable story after another.

In answer to the question: "If you could have dinner with anyone ever, who would it be," my answer, from as far back as I can remember, has always been "Carol Burnett". With this audiobook I feel that wish has been granted. Burnett stuffs this book full of anecdotes from all points of her brilliant career that will have you unabashedly howling with laughter (thus, caution when listening in public) and fighting back tears (ditto on the public listening)--but mostly the former. Delightfully, her delivery is as passionate, absorbing and natural as one imagines an evening with Carol might be! And yes, you'll hear the Tarzan yell.

On November 4, 1979, Iranian militants stormed the American embassy in Tehran and captured dozens of American hostages, sparking a 444-day ordeal and a quake in global politics still reverberating today. But there's a little-known footnote to the crisis: six Americans escaped. And a midlevel agent named Antonio Mendez devised an ingenious yet incredibly risky plan to rescue them. Armed with foreign film visas, Mendez and an unlikely team of CIA agents and Hollywood insiders traveled to Tehran....

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I would have enjoyed an abridged version more than this one. Although the story itself is fascinating, I found the abundance of detail distracting and boring at times.

What did you like best about this story?

The actual escape process and the creativity leading up to it were fascinating.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

The material was monotonous at times, so the reading came off a bit dull. It was not necessarily the narrator's fault.

Did Argo inspire you to do anything?

    See the movie.

Here is the definitive autobiography of one of the most famous personalities in television history - an intimate, revealing, and riveting memoir that will show a Larry King the world has never known, up close and personal. For a half-century, the world's most influential figures have been telling their story to Larry King. Now the man in suspenders shares his inspiring story, from his humble roots in Depression-era Brooklyn to the heights of celebrity as host of CNN's Larry King Live.

    Lisa says: "Amazingly Awesome"
"Larry's Remarkable Journey a remarkable listen"
    Overall

Larry King's latest book is chock full of the fascinating and personal anecdotes, adventures, and stories that accompany him from childhood to the present day and include a varied cast of family, schoolfriends, colleagues and celebrities along his journey. Alternatingly hilarious and heart-wrenching, there is plenty of food for thought here. Yet what puts this audiobook in a class of its own is King's delivery: It never once sounds like it is read, but is instead told in a natural, spontaneous voice that makes the listener feel he or she has just pulled up a chair for a long chat with an old friend. The icing on this cake is the interspersed commentary from family and friends. King also answers frequently-asked questions from his viewers. All of these features make this one of the most entertaining and enjoyable audiobooks I have ever listened to.
