The story had was interesting but the ending felt like walking off a cliff.
narration was very good
I think the ending left you so high and dry it begs for a follow-up book
I have not read all the Lonesome Dove series and it would probably be helpful to do so to understand the whole complexity of this saga. I love the western open lands and love the visions created by the author. All in all it's a good story.
Kerouac was my hero when I was in College. Reading this book again leaves me dispondent. The best part for me is still the freedom of traveling across the nation, that dirty down and out feeling. The world and this nation have changed so much from those days of the 50's and 60's.
A better plot and better written, it's a wonder I even tried listening to a second book.
Not spend so much time filling in the story line with useless words and descriptions. This story was just too wordy.
I was so enchanted by Kerouac, but at my much older age found this story so out of date. I guess i missed the point.
Allen Ginsburg seemed so smug in his reading, I thought he was drunk or stoned. His voice was slurred. I think Mr. Ginsburg could do a lot better than what he did for this book.
The leading character Dave Robicheaux brings this book to life.
will Patton style of narration is creatve and attracting. He brings cadence to the words and life to the characters
wake up notice. When you read this book you can't help but think about what would you do to survive and do you start now or wait till it is too late.
