Part of me really loves hearing Uncle Stevie narrate......however I think maybe he'd be best leaving it to others who are more adept at altering their voices for different characters. I always get a jolt realizing he's the one who wrote the great words... but sometimes it's distracting and keeps you from getting into the story.

Yes. It is a very fun and imaginative book. FOr those people who continue to gripe about historical accuracy, etc., get a grip. It's a fun reimagining that is engrossing, fast-paced and adds to the LIncoln aesthetic. It's not high literature, but it is very fun.

I had never listened to the Stand because every version was abridged in some way. This was a very cool listen, since I am a huge fan of the Dark Tower series... so many connections between this book and that series...

No. I gave up about half way through, so don't take this review as representing the latter half. As it is, the writing is extremely dry and boring... and fantastically skewed in its interpretations.

I have listened to hundreds of audiobooks and this was the MOST annoying job by a narrator.. the lip smacking and wheezing added to some of the villains was so distracting/annoying, I had to fast-forward or stop altogether. Completely took away from the story....

A truly terrible audiobook. I am glad I didn't pay for it. Bad writing, bad plot, bad narration. This was an amazing waste of my time. I understand why it was offered at a discount rate....

I am being dishonest giving any stars to this book, as I didn't finish it, so ignore that part of the review.

I am a liberal, but a moderate and agree with the authors that, more times than not, history is taught with a relatively negative spin, though I counter their claims as to how much. I was interested in hearing the other side of the story.

The I listened the the authors' amazingly one-sided introduction. While they claim that liberal teachers are biased, they show themselves to e exactly the same, just on the other side of the coin. If you are a neo-con or a religious right-ist, then you'll sop it up.

However, if, like me, you were looking for maybe versions more tweaked to the center, then you will be sorely disappointed at the one-minded drivel spewing here.

OK, first of all, this book was engaging and interesting.. even with the total lack of any sense of evenness. However, you know Clancy's politics going in and either accept them or don't. It is perfectly entertaining, but there are a few scenes with probably THE most cringeworthy dialog in my memory. Now, I know that suspense and war writers can;t be expected to write good sex scene dialog, but cmon Tom! Japanese sausage?

I decided to download this after having downloaded Darkly Dreaming Dexter and being a fan of the Showtime series. This book goes in a different direction, entering the realm of mysticism, etc. It also gives a bit of background on the dark passenger, which is cool. I found the mystical parts a bit off, but the book still made for a fun listen.

Keep in mind this is the 3rd book in the series and not the 2nd. Audible only has the 1st and 3rd, though (and they keep deleting my reviews).

I have probably listened to this audiobook 7 times. It is fantastic and very engrossing. Unlike most zombie stories, it focuses both on individual stories and the slow, deliberate, mechanistic response of mankind to its near annihilation. The voices overs are awesome.. the pacing is great. I just wish it weren't abridged... but to have to pay more voice over people probably would have been too expensive.
