All of Monica McCarty books are great - they are about different clans from Scotland with all the politics of the day but based around a love story, Highland books are about Clan Campbell's and Highlander books are about the MacLeods of Skye. These books have a kind of Romeo/Juliet or Westside Story feel about them, forbidden love with feuding families, but with a much happier ending.
If you like romance then you'll love these books but listen to them in order.
The narrator does a really great job too with all the different Scottish accents.
This tragic epic love story is like no other I have ever listened to or read..... it's heartbreakingly raw, emotionally draining, the words of love are passionate, the sex scenes are erotic and, as I was swept up in this beautiful but sad story that'll stay with me long after it's finished, I marvelled at Ella Frank's ability to write such a haunting thought provoking tale.
As the story starts, you don't know what has happened, or what's coming next nor can you imagine how it's possibly going to end so all you can do is listen as chapter after chapter you slowly begin to understand that this intensely painful, romantic, poignant, heartbreaking listen about grief, loss, devastation, love and hope will consume you until the very last word.
Worth a credit? This love story is so well written and I don't want to give anything away so all I can say is that it isn't the usual romance it's a tragedy and will leave you feeling sad and heartbroken for all three characters in this book. This is not a 'feel good' listen that'll put a smile on your face but it is an overwhelmingly sad work of art. It's very creditworthy but it has left me an emotional wreck, so BEWARE.
This was a good second instalment in the Most Wanted Trilogy and this time it's about Tyler, the second of The Knights to fall victim to Cupid's arrow.
First, let me get the negatives out the way…. I said it was good BUT it just wasn't up to JK's usual standard of writing as she relied very heavily on a lot of sex scenes and, I never thought I'd say this, but they got a bit boring so I would have liked a bit more story. The plot of Sloane, a female Homicide Detective who's worked Vice and Drugs, being all tongue tied and lost for words seemed unrealistic and she came across as mild and a bit weak which is again unrealistic.
However, it was an enjoyable opposites attract love story as Sloane and Tyler's instant sizzling chemistry played out into a hot voyeuristic romance with slight BDSM but the plot was Sloane, on medical leave goes to Chicago needing to find her missing friend, following clues and describes the lengths she goes to to find out what happened to her. Both H/H have terrible histories buried deep, secrets, murder, drama, twists and some tender shared times makes up this listen.
Worth a credit? Despite my negative comments this was an entertaining hot listen that has the rich, handsome, likeable, charismatic, domineering Millionaire bad boy Tyler having to say sorry more than once in order to keep the love of his life. Looking forward to Cole's story next and YES this is a creditworthy Trilogy but don't expect it to be on the same scale of The Stark Trilogy.
If you're already a fan of the series then this will be an auto download because you know what you're going to get..... a once caged, hot and very Alpha DNA altered half animal/human male finding, claiming and sexing his mate. But there's always plenty of growling and snarling going on because each storyline throws in lots of drama, intrigue, hot sex, action, threats and misunderstandings for the ever growing New Species enclave.
466 (aka Moon) has been shot with a toxic to New Species drug and his old Psychiatrist Joyce is called in to help him. 466 and Joyce were mutually attracted to each other however her ethics stopped her from taking things further. But now, two years later, her regrets, along with 466's mental instability puts his life in danger, which forces her down a very different path..... one that gives him plenty of physical as well as mental help.
Worth a credit? I love these books, yes they get a bit repetitive, but after a few weeks I'm rubbing my hands together eagerly awaiting the next one. This was a great story with some action, emotional and sexy parts however other stories have been hotter but that doesn't stop it from being a very creditworthy listen.
There are some books that just captures your imagination, keeps you enthralled and, if you've had to stop it for any reason, then you're desperate to get back to it..... well this was one of those listens for me. Set in 1784 Ireland when the English Crown was taking Irish land under the pretence of religion, this well-described plot starts off with Connor catching a young pickpocket trying to steal from him. He offers the boy a job on his Estate working alongside his brothers but when the boy actually turns out to be a girl that's when all the fun and action begins.
This isn't a love at first sight romance nor does the Hero pursue the Heroine from the start but it slowly unfolds with drama, desire, secrets, twists, great characters, revenge, treachery, murder and an evil villain all caught-up in a beautiful, strong willed and headstrong young girl's awakening love for the handsome Earl that saved her and the many problems she unwittingly caused. There's 'Robin Hood' type Highwaymen giving to the poor and keeping little for themselves even when they have little money of their own. The H/H's attraction and chemistry grows into an all too short romance (light sex) that takes a sudden painful shocking turn leaving heartache, devastation and an evil blackmailer's cruel and vicious bargain.
Worth a credit? A memorable love story that spans time and defies fate, a close family desperate to stay together and outsmarts the Hangman's noose, great character development and an unpredictable, tense, fast-paced, action packed plot makes this a very creditworthy listen.
I really didn't think I was going to like this book when it went back in time from the handsome, successful yet miserable 43 year old Schooner drowning his sorrows and reflecting over his life. And, as it went back 24 years to slowly describe his life as the 19 yr old naive College student who was letting himself be easily (and frustratingly) manipulated by his plotting, bitchy beautiful girlfriend whilst all the time watching and wanting quirky Mia, it was a bit YA. However, as the plot unfolded, the once doomed love story drew me in when, now adults, they reconnected and rekindled their relationship..... but there were problems along the way.
At 16 and 19 you think you know everything but, as Schooner and Mia found out, sadly that's not the case as life on Campus led to lies, misunderstandings, a shocking discovery and teenage insecurities which played a painful part in their breakup. However, at 40 and 43 they're confident and successful adults and they both know what they want..... each other. There was lots of angst, drama, a couple of enemies amongst a host of secondary characters, fairly light sex then a very hot shower scene and some tender touching parts as they finally get another chance to have their much deserved and long awaited HEA...... but there's an OMG of a tragic cliffhanger that crept up on me and left me with my face in my hands whilst saying "OH NO, NO, NO PLEEZE it just can't end there" but it did.
Worth a credit? An enjoyable, easy-going, unrealistic, romance, once you get passed the frustrating, but I suppose necessary, foundation of the College romance which thankfully then leads into the adult romance that has both passion and pain which made this a romantic and heartbreaking listen. I love trilogies and this one is ok, although it isn't the greatest one ever, it has the potential to build into something really good and so YES it was a creditworthy addition to my library.
What a great follow up book and what a great drama filled love story.... I couldn't stop listening as the train wreck of Jake and Amanda's relationship picks up again two years later and the sexual tension and sizzling chemistry is still there between them but this time Jake wants more from Amanda.
Gorgeous Alpha Jake was so patient, thoughtful, kind, sexy, protective and loving when it came to Amanda but he just couldn't break down her lifelong defences no matter how hard, and what, he tried. Apart from the steamy romance, the plot was also about a legal battle with Amanda's ex employers but it was also packed full of hot MMA fighters and entertaining secondary characters most of whom we met in book 1 and it was nice to catch up with Makayla and Torment.
Worth a credit? Sarah Castille certainly knows just how to write about and describe a hot testosterone filled virtual Hero for me to drool over and there was plenty of excitement, angst, drama, sex, romance, fun, frustration and it all added up to a GREAT listen.... and YES it was so worth the credit.
Phewee, you'll really go through a spectrum of emotions with this one as one after another of highs and lows are felt during this listen.... the sweet initial romantic chase, the all too brief happiness of the capture and the sorrow as the H/H's devastating tragic histories are slowly and painfully revealed. And there's more heartache to come for them before you get to the final HEA chapter.
Landon, the drool-worthy Cop, is emotionally shut off and only sleeps with a woman once but when he sets eyes on Reagan one night he knew he had to have her but he didn't realise what an impact she would have on his 'no commitment' life. Reagan is a successful Doctor and wasn't prepared to be swept off her feet by the gorgeous but emotionally damaged Landon but she hoped she could be the one to finally break through all his defences so she gave it her best shot. Romance, denial, sex, passion, tears, regret, heartache and, in the end, a beautiful love story together with some great characters are all intertwined in this well-written and descriptive plot.
Worth a credit? This is a story of unconditional love, overcoming heartache and with trust, forgiveness and love the future can be yours to choose. I spent a very lazy Sunday hooked on this enjoyable emotional roller-coaster and, YES, totally credit-worthy.
This was an enjoyable YA listen about two College Students and all the drama, misunderstandings and heartache that goes along with it that you'd expect from this type of listen. I only gave it 3 stars because I don't usually listen to YA and, from the Summary, I thought this was going to be a totally different kind of listen.... not just a College guy playing in a band for kicks once a month.
Worth a credit? Well, if you're looking for a contemporary YA listen with not too detailed sex scenes and a lot of boyfriend issues, from a variety of characters, then you'd like this book which doesn't finish on a cliffhanger but there is a "or is it?" at the end. However, I was looking for a more adult listen and if you are too then I would say save you're credit and look elsewhere.
Just when you think you've heard the last of a good vampire book BANG this series hits Audible's vast Library and you dare to hope that it's going to be good. Well I can happily tell you it's not only good..…. it's positively great.
The dark, handsome, sexy and very Alpha Lord of the West Coast Vampires Raphael needs the help of a P.I. and Cynthia (aka Cyn) is more than capable at what she does but isn't prepared for the raw power that oozes out of Raphael he rules, he orders and all obeys him but although Cyn is frightened she is also fearless. Their attraction slowly simmers in the background then all of a sudden it erupts and the sex is frenzied, powerful and memorable and the sexual tension becomes intense. The romance runs alongside the other main plot of kidnapping, spies, murder, Russian vamps, a take-over bid, intrigue and some tense nail-biting times as the well described plot of who, when and why plays out with characters that are loveable, likeable, interesting and some that are just plain evil.
Worth a credit? It was exciting, fast-paced, addictive, action-packed, fresh and I couldn't stop listening (being desperate to get to the HEA part) BUT shock and horror, no it's not a cliffhanger, it's a 'to be continued' listen which was equally a 'rip you hair out and scream' moment and very frustrating. However, very credit-worthy and an auto download for book 2 and I only hope that the wait is going to be a short one….. because I want it like yesterday!!!!.
Max was a handsome, carefree, no-strings kinda guy until he got to the Airport late to pick up his Sister's best friend Vanessa and, although she was really pi**ed off with him, their mutual attraction simmered. So he had to tread carefully because he desperately wanted to get to know the beautiful, intelligent and fiery redhead.
Very enjoyable Contemporary Romance with likeable characters whose love story captured me from the start and kept me riveted with clever dialogue and witty banter, sexual chemistry, passion filled sex scenes and the touching and tender feel good chapters.
Worth a credit? This was even better than book 1 and could be a stand alone well-written listen that'll have you begging for more from this talented Author.... so YES another credit well spent.
