"ANOTHER WINNER"
Absolutely fantastic Series, that is made even better by a Narrator that just fits the book. I would of been happy if this had cost me 2 or 3 credits (shhh don't tell Audible). Darynda Jones can't write fast enough for me.
Don't hesitate, your waisting good listening time.
"GOOD PAR/ROMANCE BUT IT'S STILL A BIT CONFUSING"
This new series is getting better, I have not read or listened to any of her previous series of books giving the backgrounds and histories of The Darkyn or The Kyndred which is VERY frustrating because you don't know the who, what's and whys.
This was a sweet romance but it was one of those frustrating listens that has you shouting "just hurry up and tell him/her that you love them). Plenty of supernatural characters from the previous book get involved in a parallel plot which was very exciting and thrilling. Overall it was a very enjoyable paranormal listen that is action packed and romantic that has a couple of sexy hot bits but I may be losing the battle to keep up with all the 'entities' mentioned and what they have already done, can, are or are planning to do. I feel like I've walked into a really good film but it's already over halfway through and I'm lost.
Worth a credit? It was well written, emotional, action packed along with a nail-bitting doomed romance - so I guess it was but I just wished I could have listened to the whole series. I will however, persevere in the hope that book 3 will shed more light on the series.
"DOUBLE TIME BUT NOT DOUBLE THE ENJOYMENT FACTOR"
If you've listened to any of the other Sinners books then you already know that they are a H H HOT listen.
This has tormented souls, denial, the usual M/F M/F/M but it also has some very erotic M/M action so if you're not really into that sort of action then pass on this book. I didn't really connect with the story as much as I did with the others perhaps because there was too much sex and not enough feelings to their romance and everything just happened so quickly.
There wasn't much interaction with the other band members either which previously brought this series to life and made it more 'brotherly' and humorous.
Worth a credit? Yes, as I'm really into all the band members and can't wait until Eric (Sticks) finally gets his turn at romance but unfortunately I don't think that wlil be until Aug/Sept.
"STEP BACK IN TIME & PREPARE TO BE CAPTURED BY THIS"
Phew - well I've just finished this harrowing Highland tale that tells of the darkest of cruelty and torment but also tells of the joy of redemption along with salvation as the acts of tenderness and forgiveness eventually brings healing and the deepest of love.
Maya Banks never fails in her role as an author to deliver to her fans a book that captivates you from the first chapter until the last and within those chapters she packs them full with great characters and conjures a story that is tragic, heartwarming, tender and sooo romantic. They never fail to reach your heart and you just know that this will be one you could easily revisit and will never forget because, for a short while, you lived amongst these Highland characters and felt their anguish, anger, torment, pleasure and passion.
The narrator did a great job too in breathing life and emotion to each of the characters and the situations that they found themselves in.
Worth a credit? Well, as long as Maya keeps writing these wonderful books then I'll happily keep buying them and then long for the next.... so I guess that's a big fat YES.
"GET YOUR HOT TICKET NOW ON THE SINNERS TOUR BUS"
I could go on about how sexy, vulnerable and loveable the characters are or about how very very hot the plot was and I could add that it was filled with surprises, shocks, thrills, highs and lows, laughs, and funny one liners. All this was put together seamlessly by a gifted author then brought magically to life by the many voices of the narrator which will have you believing you are there sharing and caring about all the Sinners band members and their families.
But all I will say is press the 'Add To Cart' button now, do whatever you do whilst listening and enjoy.
"VERY NICE SELECTION BY SOME WELL-KNOWN AUTHORS"
If you're into short stories (as I am sometimes) then you can't go wrong with this selection of novellas which included A. Ivy's Sentinels 0.5 prequel and D.Duvall's Immortal Guardians 3.5.
They are each entertaining and enjoyable to any paranormal listener and it gives you a taste of authors you may not have listened to before. Some are more thrilling and some are more romantic and I liked them all but the last one - it was snappy and quick unfortunately there was no real romance until the end. They are filled with characters that will whisk you away to the supernatural world and show you their realms.
Worth a credit? Yes - but only if you like short stories that fly bye.
"NOT SO MUCH STOLEN MORE 'GENTLY WOOED & PERSUADED'"
Well can these Highland covers get much better - mmmmm the mind boggles - anyway about the book..... If you've listened to the other 2 in the series then you know what you're going to get - a Highland story that's exciting, amusing, entertaining and romantic as EK gives us an insight into a bygone historical era and whisks us away to feuding Scotland where Highland Clans battle each other and the English.
Daniel and Myra met years earlier an it was a mutual instant attraction but unfortunately their lives took different paths until years later they came across each other both alone in the middle of dangerous woods but Myra was crying and covered in blood and Daniel was sucked right in. They were both seeking Robert the Bruce but for very different reasons and neither one wanted to share their secrets with the other for trust played a major part. It's got action, murder, deceit, double crossing and a tender romance with adventure by some likeable characters - even William Wallis and Robert The Bruce make an appearance and play a part in this story of treachery and betrayal.
I somehow felt the previous two books had a bit more action in them as this one seemed to centre around Daniel and Myra's building trust for each other as they slowly let their defences down which allowed their feelings in. That's not to say there wasn't battles and skirmishes but the villain has yet to be caught - maybe in the next book (The Highlander's Warrior Bride - out now) we will finally get to see the demise of the treacherous evil Scottish Laird.
Worth a credit? Yes it was entertaining, amusing and enjoyable - yet tender with a Highlander that, for once, wasn't all Alpha but more thoughtful, kind and loveable.
"AN UNUSUAL ACTION-PACKED REGENCY ADVENTURE"
This was a sweeping tale that transports you from Italy to Morocco, back to Italy and then finally to England and it follows a relationship that slowly builds as distrust eventually leads to trust, then friendship and that happily leads to love.
Marcus (Ren) buys and saves Angelia (Lia) from the slave market but there are lots of hurdles to overcome before he can get his hands on her but when he does he just can't keep them off her. Plenty of passion, sex and romance as Lia involves Ren in her quest to get her brother and nursemaid back and he discovers some important secrets she failed to share. Likeable characters, good action packed storyline and some twists all this and with a few dislikable evil villains too.
This is actually a dual-narration by DK and Victoria Myers (the jury is still out as to whether I like or dislike a dual narrated listen) anyway...... WHY O WHY did VM give the heroine (who is Italian) an English accent??? everyone else in Italy had an accent - including her maid and brother, but Lia didn't - she had a posh English one which (sorry) but this annoyed the hell out of me.
Worth a credit? Absolutely YES and I'm eagerly looking forward to the next book.
"SORRY BUT IT NEVER REALLY WARMED UP"
Well, despite the promising cover, I have finally found a Highlander book that didn't wow me - it was soooo s l o w - and I was listening on double time!!
The story just progressed at such a slow tempo that I was thinking about skipping parts to get to the good bits but even if I had done that there were such few good bits to find I may have missed them altogether. There was sex but it left out most of the action, there were too many romances going on at the same time (4) which detracted from the main one which was sweet, tender but rolled on and on. GN used too many words to describe just one thing that I thought "just get there already".
Everything seemed to happen in the last 2/3 chapters so, if you are tempted, do yourselves a favor - listen to the first 2 chapters then skip to the last 3 chapters and you won't have missed much.
However, finishing on a 'positive' I loved RG's Scottish brogue which saved the book for me and awarded it a 3 star listen.
Worth a credit? No and I must try not to buy any of her next ones in the series.
"GOOD BUT.... WHERE'S THE PREVIOUS BOOKS???"
Firstly, this is listed as BOOK 8 on her website so WHAT has happened to the rest????? I see it's the start of Lords of Darkyn series but it completely throws you in at the deep end as the characters are talking about people, places and events that you know nothing about. Also, there was Kyndred books before this series too which all, unfortunately, have an impact on your total understanding and enjoyment.
However, I just had to suck it up, move on and overlook the fact that I hadn't got a clue to the back-story of the who, whats and whys. A romantic paranormal listen that starts with misunderstandings, murder, myths and a mission with many twists. It was action packed with a nicely described sex scene - there were some witty one-liners from another couple of characters in the book whose story was obviously told in a previous book.
Worth a credit? I like paranormal listens and will continued with the next book so I guess it's a YES - however, if it is going to refer back to previous storylines then I do have my doubts - unless Audible manages to put the entire Darkyn library on the website.
"SHOWS THAT EVEN BROKEN HEARTS CAN BE HEALED"
Really enjoyable 'rock band' romance that's heartbreaking one minute and annoying the next.
Noel and Lane's story begins when they were High School sweethearts and she broke his heart by not believing and sharing in his dreams (ahhh wot a b....). He sure showed her - fame, women, money, and sex god looks is the ultimate power in his business and he's got it in spades but now Lane needs him however, he's angry and arrogant towards her (don't blame him) at first. We soon find out that he just isn't over her and never was but she's not so sure.
I loved loved loved Noel - his tenderness and his willingness to show Lane his love for her has never changed and his desperation at keeping her in his life but unfortunately I didn't like Lane's character - she came across as a spoilt hard business career minded woman one minute, loves and would do anything for him the next, then she's cold to him again.
However, overall it was a sweet romance, not as good, deep or hot as the Sinners on Tour books, but a very enjoyable listen with some great characters filling the hours of listening up and no doubt we will be hearing their stories and I can't wait.
Worth a credit? Yes, it was a good romantic story with the ahhh factor in it.
