Blaze books often seem to get overlooked for more 'substantial' novels but I took a chance as I just love beefy handsome men in kilts (I know - I'm beyond redemption!!).
Well, what a great find - totally implausible raunchy plot (but good anyway), likeable characters, good sub-plots, sexy Highlanders and, of course, lots and lots of sex.
Worth a credit? Even tho it's just 6 hrs long I'd say a definite YES, but if you can't take the 'heat' in your historical romances or need them to be historically acurate then don't buy this.
First sight attraction between Julia, a co-owner of a trendy Bar, and the handsome Lawyer called Clay who's been sitting staring at her. There's instant lust followed by off the charts sex as their one night of bliss turned out to be much much more when they are both eager to take it to the next level. But, as expected there's a big and dangerous secret in Julia's life with some criminals and Clay's past scars are going to make it very difficult for their relationship to progress unless she spills.
This is a backwards book..... lots of hot sex straight off, then a period of getting to know each other, followed by the temptation and a hope for more. But before they can move forward there's an unwanted dangerous reality check and a CLIFFHANGER ending. Dual POV's and the narration was good.
Worth a credit? You've got to like a lotta hot sex, a bit of light bondage and some dirty talking in your listen to like this one, and if you do, then I'm sure you'll find it creditworthy.
Indigo should never say "well things could be worse".... because her life goes from one problem to really bad problems then disastrous problems to lethal deadly problems in just a few short days. Luckily she's strong, capable and independent..... all traits that she's going to need in the next few weeks when she's captured by the very handsome, sexy but tough, ruthless and scary Pirate Captain Hendrix who wants to sell her as a sex slave.
Told from Indigo's POV and you get sucked into her story as it twists and turns and has ups and downs like the Ocean she's on with mystery, suspense, murder, a surprise or two, secrets, drama, passion, dirty talk and sex. A very dislikable Hero until near the end and I'm sure modern day Pirates are very frightening but this is a work of romantic fiction so with a sad story and a cracking of his cold exterior he is transformed in the end into a swoon-worthy sensual Pirate.
It's not the greatest work of fiction, or that well written as it lacks a lot of descriptions which would have painted the scenes and given depth to the characters and some things are just plain stupid (modern day Pirates surely don't fly the skull and crossbones flag!). It is a sort of HEA ending as the H/H are happy together but to line up the plot for book 2 something happens to one of the other characters and another Pirate.
Worth a credit? It's under $8 so I just bought it and that's about right for this listen but I guess I would have been happy enough if I'd used a credit on it.
These Guild Hunter books are auto downloads for me because they always hold consistently gripping and complex stories that are stuffed full of action, adventure, mystery, twists, great characters and romance. As the citizens, Vampires and Archangels of New York are getting over the great battle there's new Allies and allegiances to form, new buildings to accommodate everyone and the unknown Legion of dark bat winged Warriors are ever present. So, Raphael and Elena have a tough job on their hands but they pull together and their wonderful romance is still as strong as ever.
But when a dog and a woman are found drained of blood it's up to the gifted Guild Hunter Ash and the hot and sexy Vampire Janvier to put all the missing pieces together and track down an evil killer. The trouble is they've both been fighting their chemistry, their attraction and their desire for too long under the guise of witty banter and light flirtation because Ash is hiding a shocking secret from Janvier that delivers a terrible and deadly blow. Despite this they must work hand in hand to follow the clues that will bring them face to face with a Monster.
When you get a really good series, as this is, you easily remember events and the characters that each book held so it's like visiting family you haven't seen for a while and you happily and eagerly get all their news and updates. And along with this one comes a tense thriller and a bitter-sweet love story as murder and passion are both entwined in another awesome listen (although sadly not as sexy as others). There's also some new characters.
Told from various character's POV's and I love Justine Eyre's narration. These books should be listened to in order to get the absolute best from this chilling/thrilling series.
Worth a credit? Well, if Nalini Singh keeps writing them then I'll gladly keep using my credits on them..... so YEAH a very addictive, well-written, emotional and enjoyable listen that was worth a credit.
The small town of Edenton is full of 'Others'....Shifters, Fae, Vampires, Mages, Shadow Stalkers and now also a new beautiful Druid called Fallon who is about to liven things up when she rescues and then is rescued by a tall, handsome and sexy Werewolf Enforcer called Brody. He's sweet, sincere, warm, thoughtful, strong, protective and isn't all Alpha which is a good job because she needs a mate who understands and appreciates her strong attitude, magic abilities, tattoos, piercings and general no nonsense behaviour.... and her history. But she comes with a lot of deep emotional baggage, danger and her fear that an evil sinister enemy is back from the dead and he wants her.... no matter the cost.
This certainly is an action packed listen, whether it's describing Brody and Fallen's instant attraction, their sizzling chemistry and their hot sexual needs or their interaction with other members of the town or the drama that explodes when the evil Vampire finally makes his move.
Told from both POV's and the narrator did an ok job but sometimes the story did come across as a Fallon fan site whereas I'd of been happier with one for Brody.
Worth a credit? An unusual and addictive start to a new paranormal world that nicely unfolds and slowly releases more details and introduces more characters as the hours quickly fly by. Yes, IMHO, a creditworthy listen.
This is a very emotional and unusual contemporary British love story that's full of angst and bitter drama, as Paisley, the hated and very misunderstood daughter of a dysfunctional family, is on a downwards spiral of self-hate and self abuse in the form of drug abuse and alcohol…. but she's not going down alone. Two time periods, one full of bad decisions, rejection, heartache and pain then 7 years later when she asks for forgiveness, understanding and a second chance but again there's rejection, heartache and pain.
This is a fast-paced story that's so well-written about denied instant sexual attraction and chemistry between two very different people that just weren't in the right place in their lives to understand it or grab it and instead fate led them down two very different paths. Lies, secrets, revelations, a twist, a lot of verbal sparring, family deaths, betrayal and a host of other events must all be overcome and forgiven before there's any hope of a HEA ending.
Told from Paisley's POV with dry humor, few sex scenes but they were emotional, highly charged and graphic and the narrator did a great job.
Worth a credit? Once I started this listen I was totally hooked on Paisley's life, her inner battles, demons, regrets and hopes and her hard-won fight to carve out a little bit of happiness in her life. Yes I could of slapped her at times but this is a heartbreaking, bitter and raw story that grew into a breathtaking love story which was well worth a credit.
This is one of those listens that has you scratching your head because there were parts I hated, parts I thought "oh come on" and parts I liked so at the end I was left wondering just what exactly my feelings were on this. And these listens are the hardest ones to review.
My dislikes.... one minute the H/H hate each other, the next day they go out to dinner and talk about a mutual Sub/Dom BDSM relationship and go straight back home and have hot sex (me thinks surely not a first date conversation!) dual POV's. There were missing time periods, glossed over events and I had a big question as to why the new person couldn't of brought all his stuff with him (I don't want to give any spoilers).
My likes.... The family dynamics were good and once I got passed all the sex (which I never thought I'd say) there was a decent story in the end when the whole family pulled together after a shocking life altering twist for the two lovers. Lots of characters with sub plots told from their own POV's which made it interesting. Very sexy narration.
Worth a credit? Will this teach me not to judge a book by its cover? nope.... it's hot. I MAY give the second book in the series a try I'm undecided. As to the credit well I would rather of got this while on sale.... but I won't be asking for my credit back.
Take a sexy drool-worthy billionaire called Calder, add an feisty, headstrong and desperate woman called Lily, mix with a plot that's got lots of sizzling sexual chemistry, tension filled games, hot steamy sex, skeletons, secrets and dirty talk finally top it off with a twist or two. Then voila you've got all the ingredients that makes up this 5 star listen.
A well developed, well described, well written and well paced fun and sweet story about two loveable characters who had depth and substance and I was rooting for them both to get their HEA ending as the story built to reveal vulnerabilities and truths. However, although this isn't a cliffhanger ending it is a 'to be continued' love story.
Worth a credit? It was an entertaining, non stop, must have listen from the opening chapter to the very end which was told from Lily's POV and with a great narrator.... So, oh boy YEAH one little credit made me just purrrr with the sheer pleasure of it.
This a great conclusion to the romance between the sexy and gorgeous Vampire Lord Raphael and the very independent, smart and kick-ass Heroine Cyn the P.I. that Raphael had employed and walked away from in book 1. (But oh wow he really nailed it with his heartfelt and emotionally honest "I love you" scene).
Sorry, but I'm getting ahead of myself as this story is mainly about the twisted and evil Vampire Lord Jabril who is Cyn's new client and the tense and dangerous situation she finds herself in when she discovers the terrible things he's been doing during his sordid reign. There's gritty nail-biting drama and when she eventually asks for Raphael's help there's a rekindling of their passion, sex, a betrayal and Cyn finds herself in a very tricky life/death situation. There's also a sub-plot as women are being found murdered and drained of their blood and the tension rises as their No. 1 suspect is Raphael.
Worth a credit? This has the makings of a great series as each book packs so much in and delivers a smooth well-written and well-narrated story that's enjoyable, entertaining and, I warn you, very very addictive. So, YES a credit-worthy listen.
I was swept away into their world, their fresh and new budding relationship, their desires, their hopes and dreams, their pitfalls and the closeness, love and support that their family and friends gave them. I laughed, I cried and I celebrated along with them as I became hopelessly glued to every perfect chapter.
What a brilliant, well-written book that gave me everything I hoped for..... and much much more. This book has it all.... a great storyline, humor, angst, romance, passion, hot sex scenes and a sexy drool-worthy famous leading man who's fallen for a likeable woman who unfortunately comes with some emotional baggage. Great narration finished off an awesome listen.
Worth a credit? Oh YEAH, I love Kristen Proby's books and I'm about to put ALL the others I've missed out on into my cart.... so I guess we'll be living on take-outs for a long long time.
Sharon Hamilton has written another imaginative addition to her new supernatural world where good and evil battle for the lives and futures of us mere mortals. This time Joshua has to decide between the human woman he loves and his duty to collect her soul and make her into a Dark Angel. His new Boss makes drastic changes to the Underworld, which includes murder, resurrecting evil creatures and choosing a mate...... and guess who he wants.
There's great characters, it's action-packed with twists, intense, emotional, there's a good romance which has nice sex scenes and it also includes much loved characters from book 1. BUT the true magic comes from the many voices provided by a maestro narrator J D Hart who's sexy Hero's accent was just so yummy.
Worth a credit? If you keep writing them Ms Hamilton and JDH keeps narrating them then they'll be an auto download for me. So YES well worth a credit.
