Lisa Klypas can do no wrong for me and I usually listen to her Historical Romances so I was surprised and excited to see her delve into another era. Unfortunately I was disappointed - most of part 1 was taken up with too much of Liberty's childhood and love for Hardy that it became boring then suddenly at the end we meet Gage and the story seemed to speed up and then finish. You could actually just listen to part 2 only and nothing much would be lost.
Narrator was just too young, which was fine at the beginning for the age she was but not all the way through.
Message to LK the saying "if it ain't broke then don't try to fix it" applies - you had a winning formula and it didn't need fixing.
Worth a credit? I liked the end so, for that it would be a Yes - but for the whole book then I'd have to say No keep your credit (and I thought I'd never say that about a LK book !).
Great original story that was heartbreaking, emotional, funny and very entertaining and a good introduction to the antics and characters of the members of the De Montforte brothers. Sibling manipulation, a reformed handsome Rake, a beautiful American woman in need, character growth, sex and a lot of angst made this a 'just one more chapter' listen.
However, IMO, the narrator's voice was hard, old and totally inappropriate for this listen because unfortunately it didn't make me swoon over the male Hero.
There isn't a cliffhanger ending but there was a shocking discovery at the end which will be followed-up in book 2 so my suggestion would definitely be start with book 1.
Worth a credit? Yes, and I've already downloaded ALL the rest in the series because I am that interested in each of the brother's welfare and happiness.
A gritty romance where hearts and friendships are torn apart. Dual POV, dual narration with the male voices being spoken by the deep and oh so sensual voice of Wen Ross but the female voice was only average. There were a couple of songs too.
A tortured love triangle (that takes place while the group Tempest is on tour) between characters who have known each other since childhood and adolescence there are promises broken, regrets, secrets, jealousies and a deep love that cannot be denied any longer. It flashes back and forth in time giving the backgrounds and histories as to why certain choices were made and the consequences those choices have on their present day relationships.
It's sometimes raw and gritty and also tells of the depressing effects of drug abuse and there's a bitter-sweet heartbreaking love story with touching scenes and some likeable secondary characters. A lot of angst as the whole dynamics of the group implodes and a few sex scenes that weren't too graphic. Great character growth for one but sadly a downhill spiral for another.
Worth a credit? An enjoyable listen (made even better by Wen Ross) that eventually led to a HEA ending for most characters and I'll gladly be spending another credit on the next book in this series. So YES, IMO, a creditworthy listen.
Olivia had a tragic past which is resurfacing and threatening her today but she is totally unaware of it because she is suffering from partial amnesia so has lost many early memories. Saved one night by a handsome stranger with beautiful green eyes, familiar eyes, eyes of a saviour from that terrible event that's been giving her nightmares, nightmares that leaves her mentally and emotionally scarred and scared.
Alexander is a near perfect Hero, handsome, successful and loving but he's still heartbroken over the death of his childhood best friend, the best friend with beautiful brown eyes that he still searches for in every woman..... eyes that are now looking up at him from the beautiful face of a terrified woman. He remembers everything, she remembers nothing which leads to epic secrets, secrets that hold mysterious questions, danger, suspense, villains with evil plots, murder and, as their unavoidable chemistry explodes, it's secrets he should finally share with her..... but dare he.
What a well-written and gripping romance/suspense story that had so many twists, questions and some very passionate love scenes that sometimes had light Sub/Dom moments. The narration was excellent and added personality, feelings and depth to the characters in the story.
Worth a credit? This was a very emotional story, a story of undying love and it hooked me in from the start but it was one of those books that'll make you so annoyed with the Hero that you could just shake him for not divulging the secrets, secrets that involved the Heroine and is threatening her very life. Then, of course, came a very emotional heartbreaking cliffhanger which not only left me with a lump in my throat but it had me tearing my hair out that it had ended. Luckily book 2 isn't far away and I've already pre-ordered it so now comes the difficult part..... the waiting. Creditworthy.....OH HELL YEAH.
Oh, what a truly romantic story.... yes it's unbelievable with no dramas until very near the end but it's also touching, passionate and had lots of sex scenes in it. But I totally enjoyed hearing how these two met, fell in love and got their HEA ending.
There was a lot of sweetly romantic gestures, maybe too many sex scenes and a very quick to develop relationship but I thought their love story was like a Fairytale come true and I guess I was just in the right mood for it. However, the Heroine's voice was too high at times and it sounded better when I sped up the speed.... thank God for technology.
Worth a credit? Yes I loved this easy going light listen and it left me with a smile on my face and I'll definitely be downloading more from the series.
I love L.D's books and I'm slowly trying to get through all of them but sadly I was disappointed with this one. Not because it's not well written or well narrated but because the H/H loved each other from the start so there was no build-up or slow sizzle. They had to part but years later when they met again it was an instant 'claiming' thing.
There was conflict between Shifter Species, a bit of tension, drama and of course sex and yes there was romance but without that slow burn and the anticipation that brings it just didn't hold my attention, I wasn't gripped and my mind drifted to other things whilst listening to it.
Worth a credit? It's a Dohner book so I should be saying YES but unfortunately, for me, this time it's got to be a NO.
What a great second instalment that had so much emotional turmoil and drama as Liz tries to pick up the pieces of her broken heart and move on with someone new but it's hard because images of Brady, the oh so sexy Senator, haunts her every move.
The storyline, the heartache, the passion, the angst, the sex, the narration, the twists, the betrayal and the enduring love that was all contained in this well written book had me debating listening to this, and book 1, all over again. Well all that and a perfect Hero!!
Worth a credit? If I'd used one then YES I would be more than happy, but at under $8 I'm ecstatic..... and that's exactly what I'll be when book 3 becomes available.
If you've listened to the previous books then you know Tom is the sexy man-whore and Bassist in the Band TMS with a carefree love em and leave em attitude and a bad reputation, that is until someone's life is threatened and he makes a pact with God. Lyla's well aware of Tom's reputation and she's resisted him twice before but when they have to go on tour together the sizzling chemistry, his raw sex appeal and his persistent Alpha magnetism makes her strike a bargain that's going to bring pleasure, joy and hot hot sex but heartache and pain is around the corner.
Two characters battling Demons from their pasts struggling to find happiness who are thrown together makes a very volatile mix and a powerful and enjoyable listen as they play an intense sexual cat and mouse game.... but who catches who? There are great secondary friends who are like a tight family and also a sub plot of Lyla's brother's terrible betrayal and the emotional heartbreaking consequences that brings to both of them. There's several appearances of Jake (book 1) finishing in his and Tru's wedding.
A well written and well narrated rock n roll romance that didn't disappoint.
Worth a credit? A roller coaster relationship that had an expiry date, a likeable Heroine that denied the attraction but wanted more and a damaged Hero whose hard shell was protecting his already shattered heart and, for a few passion filled weeks they had it all. A very hot, emotional listen with witty banter, heartache, drama, jealousies and pain but thankfully much needed character development leads to a tear filled HEA ending.... and so worth a credit.
Cole, the third and final rich, successful, handsome bachelor businessman from Chicago's infamous trio of bad boys called The Knights. He tries to play hard to get when Katrina shows him just how desperate she is for him because he's frightened of hurting her. Both have been physically abused in the past and the scars still haunts them today but it has resulted in Cole's sexual needs to be very dark and Katrina has to accept his ways or lose him forever. First denial, obsession, then sparks and finally a lot of passion and hot sex but along with it are their back stories and a sub plot involving Katrina's con artist Father.
I thought this was the most enjoyable of the three books, there was their heartbreaking pasts, the tense build-up to their relationship, the hot sex, drama, suspense, a romantic secret passion is revealed, a shocking twist at the end and some secondary characters from the previous two books. There is also a couple of brief encounters with Damien and Nikki Stark from the Stark trilogy.
Worth a credit? Very enjoyable hot listen with plenty of Sub/Dom and BDSM sex play but there was a lot of emotional conflict, angst and character change as these two lovers finally trust and realise that they could actually be perfect for each other.
This book takes place eight weeks after the shocking cliffhanger from book 1 and Porter has been heartbroken and devastated but he's been by Ella's bedside the whole time..... ahhh true love. Sadly, things didn't go right and my emotions were constantly being put on high alert during this listen, whether it was joy and happiness, anger and sadness, fear and dread or just to bask in their beautiful relationship.
Anie Michaels created the perfect Hero when she made Porter as he was so so thoughtful, kind, sexy, loving, supportive, handsome... oh I've got to stop myself from gushing here but he was mouth-wateringly perfect. The story drew me into their world and didn't let me go as it took me through their heartache, their pain, their fear, their happiness until eventually, and finally, their HEA.
Worth a credit? If you like a well described and well narrated story that had a H/H that don't lie, don't argue, have no secrets, would sacrifice themselves for one another, are very much in love and show it with plenty of sex. Also, there's a bitter violent ex who's a constant threatening presence, great secondary characters, drama and a climactic ending then this book is for you. This sequel left me purrrring and was definitely worth my credit.
Night Watch is an Agency that takes down out of control supernatural criminals and the Team is made up of a variety of human, not quite human and very unhuman characters. There was a chilling, tension filled plot, that was action packed with suspense, secrets, a mysterious mad stalker/murderer, thrills, various supernaturals called Others.... Were-Shifters, Demons, Vamps etc., and it was well narrated.
The Alpha Hero Jude who's a Bounty Hunter/White Tiger Shifter is all Alpha (I never thought I'd say it but maybe too much) all the time, never letting up, never changing just bossy, demanding and arrogant which goes with his rare Were Tiger side. Erin, the Heroine and ADA, hadn't come out of the closet as a Shifter because she was flawed but the animal instant lust between them led very quickly to hot animal sex by Chapter 6. So there was passion but not a lot of romance as Jude became her personal Bodyguard as well as a Hunter Hell bent on catching/killing her evil stalker before it was too late.
Worth a credit? Exciting and enjoyable with lust and sex but no tender romancing which I missed however it was a Shifter book that had a tense, nail-biting storyline so YES creditworthy.
