Terrific narrator! But what a boring book. Couldn't even get through to the end of the first download. Sorry I wasted my credit.
Perhaps if I could have finished it! I couldn't stand King's narration so much, I gave up on the whole book. WASTED CREDITS! Beware....
Everything about Mr. King reading his own book was simply awful.
Very disappointed. Very.
Please realize that what you loved about the last books will be not be realized by listening to this one. Stephen King should stick with writing, and never EVER narrate again.
Boy, I really wanted to like this one....
... but can't seem to get into narratives that are written in first person. Hearing the tale told from the outside is as if I am watching a movie. Hearing the word "I" this and "I" that is so distracting that I mostly leave these books on the shelf rather than be disappointed to have wasted a credit when I cannot enjoy the story and give up, the remainder unheard. I wish some other reviewer had mentioned this, as it would have saved me a credit.
Wow, what a novel. Complex characters along with a great narrator. A must listen! I'm off to find other books by either one...
Oh boy I tried to like this one. But the narrator has such an annoying cadence that I deleted the book near the end of the first installment. Couldn't take any more. Michael Kramer reads one sentence with an upward inflection, and then the next sentence downward, nearly every sentence. Up, then down. Up then down. Up, then down. It totally takes me out of the story when the narrator sounds like he's reading, or bored with what he's reading. Oh he has his good moments, just few and far between. Sorry Brandon.
Thank goodness there was a second book in this series! I'm loving this more than the first one...
Albeit it takes some dedication to keep listening through the beginning introduction of all the many characters,it's worth it. By the middle of the story, you're really invested in the people this book is about. And narrator John Lee could read the phone book and make it come alive in your mind. He gives the characters different voices and personalities. Wonderful!
Boy I loved the story, but this latest installment was a bit tough to finish. I got bored.
Here's hoping Christopher writes many more books, but perhaps he needs to explore some new characters or a new story line.
Very disappointed with the weak characters in this novel. I wanted to grab and shake them when they seemed to constantly make really stupid decisions in dangerous situations. They all seemed to have an acute sense of the obvious, and it was a frustrating listen. If you're ok with finishing a book with an unsatisfying plop, then go ahead and download this one. Otherwise, go find a book whose characters have more developed common sense.
Follet breathes life into medieval England with his two books, Pillars Of The Earth, and this one. Halfway through, I am going to be ever so sad when this second book is finished. I wish it could go on forever....
The narrator is so good he makes me forget he's reading. I wish there were more long books by this narrator, I'd follow him anywhere.
