I've listened to all the other Covert One Novels. I found the story fast paced and enjoyable. The new narrator took a while to get used to. Erik Bergmann did a good job on the character voices, although the voice of Klein was so different from the prior readings that I never got used to the new Klein. Quite a good story - for Covert One fans.
I thought the book was one of the best SF books I've listen to. Deep character development, and an involved story. Great reading performances.
Strange, but compelling story. Great development of the main character, Shadow. The multi-voice performance was awesome. I'm pleased Gaiman left a potential meeting between Shadow and Jesus out of the body of the book (. . , to include such a meeting in the book would have been a real problem for me). In many ways, the story is a very interesting take of America and Americans, both historically and currently. In the introduction, Neil Gaiman indicates that people either love the book, or hate the book. I must say I liked the book and I want to listen to it again to uncover more of the hidden secrets of the complexity, but I didn???t love it. The basic story premise is actually pretty simple, the characters well developed, and the historic interludes are very informative and entertaining. This is a fast read, even with the complexity. Btw, I will never be able to watch ???I Love Lucy??? without thinking about the book (. . . I???m ruined for life!)!
Against all Enemies was a painful read. It is not classic Clancy, by any stretch of the imagination. The plot was week, much of the detail was unneeded and the main characters were not very likeable. Worse of all, Against all Enemies did not seem like a Clancy book at all.
Great story, with deep character development. Look at this book as the first installment. I would expect the next book to pick-up right where this one left off - in time and the sequence of events. I can't wait! Scott Brick did an outstanding naratation job!
Read the first book in the series, Blackout, before reading All Clear. Great books! Both are some of my favorite listens on Audible. The narrator does just an awesome job swithching between American and the various British accents, and between male and female voices. High level of realism. Great job of melding SciFi with the history of the Blitz! I listened to Blackout again while waiting for All Clear and it was just as good on the second listen. All Clear was able to wrap everything up in a very pleasing and surprising way.
The Lion is as good as the Lion's Game, which is my all time favorite audible listen. Scott Brick is flawless!
This is the best audio book I've listened to out of dozens. A must hear!
