Another great addition to the Star Force series. Though I did feel that this book started off a bit on the slow side. Annihilation definitely lives up to its name and leaves you begging to know what's going to happen next.
This installment brings back some great drama that we haven't seen since the first book. Larson locks you in emotionally and there's no turning back. You also have the different enemies/aliens/machines planning, plotting, and attacking from every which way keeping you wondering how far this rabbit hole goes.
With all the possible story angles this series can only get better.
Mark Boyett continues to do amazing work telling the story. And as always he brings extra life to each character.
The most unenjoyable part of reading this series is easily waiting for the next book. Let the torture begin.
I saw this book and got it cause it was really cheap and my wife wanted me to get it for her. Figured "hey, why not give it a try myself." Famous last words. Ok, it wasn't that bad but didn't hold me attention much and was just kind of boring. Didn't feel like there was much in the way of action and it was bit to buffy the vampire slayer for me. The narration wasn't too bad, but the story itself just didn't do it for me.
Been saving a credit and waiting for this book to come out since listening to the free preview. I must say, well worth the wait and the credit.
To start the premise of this book is a new twist to the super powered people story. Within the first 5 minutes this book had me hooked. There were serious moments and moments that had me laughing. The main charater is a very likeable and makes you want to see how things turn out. The author does a great job creating charaters with different personalities and backgrounds which makes this book much deeper and interesting to listen to.
The narrator does a good job with the range of charater voices bringing them all to life in different ways.
Though this book seemed to come to a close but I'm hoping there will be more books added since it is called the reckoners series. There are so many more avenues yet to be explored with the plot of this story. Hopefully the next book will be out some time in the near future.
I had seen this book around a couple times but wasn't sure if i should get it. I am glad I finally did. I'm not normally into fantasy books but this one pulled me in from the start. The realism of what happens to kids growing up in a very poor place mixed with the coming of age of a legend.
Honestly couldn't stop listening to this book. And the story is not as straight forward as it may seem.
The narrator did a very good job bringing the characters to life and helped suck me into the story.
Looking forward to the rest of the series. Definitely getting the next book.
I don't think i would cause i started to lose interest in this book.
Probably the main character but any time it switched it got boring real fast.
The performance was good, but story lost its spark.
No, Wish i did cause i like John Ringo.
I haven't read the print version.
The narrator did a great job and has very good range in his voices.
No, the narration was bad and story wasn't very good either. Had to force myself to finish this book.
Would have used another narrator and made the story less slow.
No, he was awful.
No, the story was not that good.
The series continues right on pace and again didn't lose my attention for a second.Though I have one worry with this book. Its the feeling that this could be the last installment in the series when there is still so much story to tell.
The narrator continues to do a great job bringing the story life. All the characters are so very distinct that you can easily picture each one of them.
All in all a great book and hopefully not the end of a very good series.
I don't think so. Just wanted to get through it, but didn't really hold my attention.
The narrator did a good job but i think the story just got stagnant.
This series keeps getting better. The first book really pulled you into the story and this book takes it to the next level. Fighting a war against unbelievable odds and any mistake could be the end of the human race.
The author does a great job progressing the story while giving you glimpses of little things going on that may end up being huge to the story.
After reading this book I feel like there could be 5 more books in the series and it would not get old at all. Though i think there is only one more book. The plot is so deep and well thought out and the action keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Once again the narrator does a great job with the many characters and keeps you immersed in the story as if you were watching it on TV.
My one fear is that the next and final (i think) book may be rushed. This is because there is so much more to be told in this story and i can't see how it can be told in one more book while still reaching the potential for this series. I hope i'm wrong on both accounts.
This book has been on my to do list for months and i am so glad that i got around to listening to it. Definitely in the top ten of books i've listened to. With the top 5 (not in any order) being Barsoom series, Lost Fleet, Star Force, Troy Rising, and Second Ship, The Rho Agenda. This book is at least #6 possibly 5 if the next 2 books continue this trend.
The story reminds me of the Stargate series for you SciFi channel fans out there. The start to this book completely pulls you in and i couldn't stop listening from that point on.
The narrator does a great job with the different characters which made me feel like i was watching a movie and not just listening to a book. My wife can attest that I was completely immerse and couldn't hear anything outside of the world that this book creates. Great book and now onto the second installment.
