Love Morrell and have read nearly all his books. This one simply didn't seem up to par for Morrell. That said, it was still a decent listen.

First prize in the Skyway Soap slogan contest was an all-expenses-paid trip to the moon. The consolation prize was an authenticspace suit, and when scientifically minded high school senior Kip Russell wonit, he knew for certain he would use it one day to make a sojourn of his own tothe stars. But "one day" comes sooner than he thinks when he tries the suit on in his backyard - and finds himself worlds away, a prisoner aboard a space pirate's ship.

Nothing about this intrigued me. Years ago I read the "Stranger in a Strange Land" era books and loved those. Then he got to the moon trips which grew a bit stagnant after a while. But decided I'd try something more current and I think I'll move on to another author. Hate to dog a narrator but this didn't help any.

In Ben Coes' latest, Eye for an Eye, Dewey Andreas faces the toughest odds of his life as one of China's most powerful men has decided to do whatever he must to take down Dewey - and inflicts a horrifying loss. Andreas - former Army Ranger and Delta - is a man of great skills and cunning. His opponent, Fao Bhang, is ruthless, determined, and with no limit to the assets at his disposal. In this conflict, there are only two possible outcomes. And only one Dewey Andreas.

It doesn't pay to fall for Dewey. Figured something was going to happen to bring out the warrior in Dewey and sure enough. Love Dewey, love Coes and I hope there isn't a long wait for the next book. Perhaps I should say I hope there is a next book. Dewey is cranky, mean and indifferent to life which makes for a fun, rough ride. Tough though .. I liked Jessica.

I'm really getting into Berenson and with George Guidall it comes out as a dynamic duo. Duplicating a nuke is a bit of a stretch but still makes for a good story. And for me, that's what it's all about.

Meet Kolt Raynor. A Delta Force operator and one-time American hero, he is still trying to make sense of his life - and duty - after a secret mission gone bad. Three years ago, in the mountains of Pakistan, Raynor made a split-second decision to disobey orders - one that got some of his teammates killed and the rest captured. Now he’s been given a second chance to do right by his country, his men, and himself. But Raynor’s shot at redemption comes at a price.

Enjoyed the listen but Colt seemed to get out of scrapes just a tad too easily. Thought the story line was good but maybe a little more suspense. Same time, since this is Fury's first fiction, not bad. If he writes another, I'll listen.

In Southeast Minnesota, down on the Mississippi, a school board meeting is coming to an end. The board chairman announces that the rest of the meeting will be closed, due to personnel issues. "Issues" is correct. The proposal up for a vote before them is whether to authorize the killing of a local reporter. The vote is four to one in favor.

Seemed like Sandford had run out of steam with Eric Conger being the only saving grace in the Virgil Flowers series. But, I actually enjoyed this after about 20 minutes listening time.

I liked the idea of a new line but in spite of the meat in this book I don't look forward to Sandford like I used to. Maybe things will pick up from here.

A long-buried family secret resurfaces when one of Aloysius Pendergast's most implacable enemies shows up on his doorstep as a murdered corpse. The mystery has all the hallmarks of the perfect murder, save for an enigmatic clue: a piece of turquoise lodged in the stomach of the deceased. The gem leads Pendergast to an abandoned mine on the shore of California's desolate Salton Sea, which in turn propels him on a journey of discovery deep into his family's sinister past.

I'm not sure how to review this one. Pendergast has always pulled the tricks out of his hat and it just seemed a bit off for all the supporting characters to step into the spotlight. Good story but I think I prefer Pendergast holding the cards and remaining mysterious and a bit "other worldly".

I still enjoy all the stories maneuvering back to the museum and the days of "Relic".

I used to read John Saul and all I remember are ghostly stories about children. Been quite a while obviously. Since this was written in 1997 I believe I'll have to see what's happening with him now. This one reminded me of the early James Rollins for some reason. It does have that element of "Don't open that door!" When I read only I had to creep through those pages but now I've incororated the thrill of vocalizing, "DON'T!!!" Scared my family to death in the beginning but now they just ignore me with an occasional "Duh, Mom."

John Carr, aka Oliver Stone-once the most skilled assassin his country ever had-stands in Lafayette Park in front of the White House, perhaps for the last time. The president has personally requested that Stone serve his country again on a high-risk, covert mission. Though he's fought for decades to leave his past career behind, Stone has no choice but to say yes. Then Stone's mission changes drastically before it even begins. It's the night of a state dinner honoring the British prime minister.

I love Baldacci's books and do enjoy Oliver but this was a bit sad. Oliver Stone has had so much gusto but seems almost needy in this one. I'd listen again but think I'd still feel sorry for John Carr.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.
