Didn't think I'd like this at first but Barbara Rosenblat won me over. Not sure whether I think this is a chick book or not but no matter, I enjoyed it. It did take me a bit before the sink of the hook but from there on it was a fun ride.

Tami Hoag, author of Dust to Dust, returns with "a definite winner," says Booklist. In a trailer in a Florida swamp, time is running out for Erin Seabright. A pawn in a kidnapper's terrifying game for a ransom no one can pay, her last hope is a washed-up ex-cop who has already lost it all - not once, but twice.

I wondered as I listened just how many people could relate to the horsey part. Maybe I underestimate the number and those who would pick up this particular book. I grew up riding so I followed that part easily. Had I not had that experience I would have moved on.

But in the rest of the book the characters fell like flies. Most of us can claim a dysfunctional family but this family re-defines dysfunctional. Some of it was downright funny, most of it was getting to know the characters so we would understand when they were murdered.

I'm really not sure I would recommend this but then again I've read much worse.

Frank Quinn is sure he is hunting for a madman: someone who is shooting young women in the heart, defiling their bodies, leaving only the torsos to be found. But in the concrete canyons of New York, this shocking serial murder case is turning into something very different. Struggling against a death trap closing in around her, Jill Clark has a powerful ally in Frank Quinn. But no one knows the true motives behind a rampage of cold-blooded murder or how much more terrifying this is going to get.

This murder story is definitely gross but details are sketchy for the most part, thank goodness. Typical killer with unresolved issues but different. This killer has issues for sure but plays it out a bit differently. And as usual, Lutz is still one of my favorites.

Lutz is one of my favorites and I love the Frank Quinn series. Quinn battles several issues in this one up to the end. Lose love, find love, lose love, find love. Detested by an unfounded charge of rape, more under-current. Not to mention the case at hand. Definitely worth the listen!

I loved the Vince Flynn character Mitch Rapp and waited for each new book. Now that this won't happen again I was amazed with this story because it had a similar flavor. Not a copy cat but a new direction it seemed for Thor. WOW! I got totally wound up in this one and hope it will come again. Scot Harvath had a new dimension for me and I'm just waiting for the next. Of course George Guidall enhanced the story so great combo.

Dishonorably discharged, former Navy SEAL Shane Laughlin is down to his last ten bucks when he finally finds work as a test subject at the Obermeyer Institute, a little-known and believed-to-be-fringe scientific research facility. When he enters the OI compound, he is plunged into a strange world where seemingly mild-mannered scientists - including women half his size - can kick his highly skilled ass.

It was easy for me to get into the story and I love the super power ideas but at times it got a bit dragged down with the personal relationships. I didn't mind the relationships but it seemed like the book was designed for everyone to fall in love which wasn't what I was expecting. A little more super action would have been good.

I was surprised at how much of this book is not really fiction. But Rollins puts ideas across and they come out a bit unrealistic. This is one that calls for undivided attention. Miss a minute or two and rewind because this is so fast paced. I thoroughly enjoyed the book but I listen to relax. If you like Rollins I think you'll like this. The only oddball thing was having Painter Crow in the book, all on his own. I enjoy the Sigma Force books but this doesn't fall into that category.

I recommend it if you like the unusual.

Lutz is one of my favorites as is Scott Brick and I thoroughly enjoyed the book. The Quinn/Pearl books are in my top list and this didn't let me down. When Pearl gets engaged it throws a kink into the story and as usual, you think you know then you think you don't. Good listening.

Never read or listened to Huston before but it was suggested and I'm glad I tried him on for evaluation. I'll definitely check him out again. The story seemed to go left, then it went right, up then down. The ending was perfect and the story was good. I give this one a thumbs up.

I'm a James Rollins fan and from the very begnning he authored some pretty wild stuff but I enjoyed the reads. This is a children's book which made me realize that I must still be in touch with my "inner child". A little light hearted fantasy is good for the soul from time to time. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
