"This was simply another great Child read"
I've been hooked on the Pendergast books since Relic. Preston and Child make one heck of a team but I've started reading some of their individual books and so far I haven't been disappointed. I wonder what a conversation with these guys would be like.
"Caught my attention with the first sentence"
And held my attention throughout the book. Definitely interesting and a roller coaster ride. Rufus Harms is a great character along with the "supporting cast". Pictures of The Green Mile popped in my head when I started but no flies on Harms.
I really enjoyed this and would definitely recommend it.
"Not a bad story but,,,"
This didn't mesh story and narrator for me. I kept getting distracted, going back then distracted again. It almost seemed like the book was a little too long. A young man going after the President (among other things) really taxed my imagination much less my sense of reason. Too little too late or too much something else.
I will of course continue to read Hurwitz but hopefully not along these lines.
"Good listen - tenacity at its best!"
Thank goodness for Scott Brick. I've listened to too many narrators without that ZING. The book kept me up too late since I had to know what came next. It's a crazy story, different from what I've listened to in the last several months.
I don't do book reports but I would suggest giving this a try.
"You always learn when you read Brad Meltzer"
As far as I'm concerned Meltzer is a wonderful teacher and darn good writer. Very, very bright while he weaves fiction and fact. I've watched him on the History Channel doing the "Decoded" series, very interesting as are the topics he has his team research.
"90% good, the rest ... eh"
Love Morrell and have read nearly all his books. This one simply didn't seem up to par for Morrell. That said, it was still a decent listen.
"Haven't read a bad Palmer, this is another good"
I enjoy Michael Palmer medical mysteries and enjoyed this as usual. I read Robin Cook and enjoy his books also but Palmer seems more down to earth.
I always learn something about medicine, medical frauds and unethical administrators. I worked 17 years in healthcare and as Palmer puts his story together I usually realize something I've seen without recognition.
I think it's worth the read.
"Good story but a couple of problems"
Just getting acquainted with Lutz and I really enjoyed the story. The problem came in the audio. I listened to a reasonable sound level and suddenly the volumn would change. Think it happened three times. Also, there was background noise like old cells when other conversations could be heard in the background.
But I believe this was done in 1998 which may account for some of the distractions. I'd still recommend the listen.
"Great story but a tad long"
I strongly suspect that Brad Metzer is a bit on the brilliant side which is pretty much reflected
in The Inner Circle. And wow the twists and turns - truly a who done it. And although it was a bit long, I can see the need to explore all the interactions.
I'd listen again.
"Well, we know he's innocent!"
Hosp is a new author for me, discovered while browsing through the George Guidall reads. Thoroughly enjoyed it. One thing leads to another, twist after twist, from street kid to big firm lawyer, trying to solve the case and luckily with people willing to help and believe in Finn.
The synopsis is dead on. This one left me feeling as though I'd been reading him for ages, looking forward to the next book.
I don't do book reports but I do say this is well worth the listen.
"Good Virgil Story"
I really like the Virgil Flowers series, different from the Prey series. Virgil comes across more like a "good ole boy". This one covers some hinky topics but nothing foreign to reality. For that matter, we have one in the news right now.
