I did not know anything about this author and went on the reviews. Not really my thing. I did not care for the narration and thought the story a bit obvious.
I would not recommend this book as it did not captivate me or intrigue me.
Facinating depiction of war
Yes and he is brilliant. Not only does he get all the regional and country accents spot on, he imparts a complete charactirization of the people focused in the book.
Ethel - because she is a trail blazer of her time.
Slow to start but once you get in is a true Follett
Having someone who doesn't send you to sleep would be a good idea.
The story line is intriguing and so well written, there are many parts that are unbelievably good, However I just could not listen to Bill O'Reilly's voice.
Book yes - if someone else read it. Bill O'Reilly's performance absolutely not.
If you are a Bill fan, or can tolerate his voice - try it. It really is well written. If you cannot listen to his voice - don't bother.
I veru much enjoyed this book so this ranks up there for me.
I enjoyed how all the characters are defined, but Nell was the one I was compelled by, given what had happened to her.
The voices were interesting, though she didnt get the accents all correct she did bring emotion into the characters.bv
Engaging, well written, good start for novice scifi readers.
It made me keep reading.
Yes. Because it is an enlightening view of 15 century England.
The other two in the trilogy and the Boyleyn series. Very smartly written historical fiction.
One of my favorite historical fictions, though I am a fan of Philippa Greagy. This is a good way to learn about some of the history in England during the Lancaster/Tudor wars. Philippa Gregory writes in a way that allows the reader to get completely immersed in the period and completely understand the personality of the characters and their role in history. She takes historical facts and fills in the blanks in such an intellectual way that you sometimes feel you are ready a history book and not historical fiction. This is a must for those who love the theatre of English monarchy.
Elizabeth Woodsville - because she was a facinating character, beguiling, beautiful and focused.
Great dictation and certainly provided the feeling and energy that might be lost by reading the book.
