The words of Graham Greene are a blend of light strokes and deep meaning. Colin Firth is able to communicate the meaning behind the words without ponderous histrionics.
The main character tells his story of infidelity and his own unraveling as he digs into the private life of his lover. As he learns of her own adulterous nature, he can only accept the same fate.
