"Amazing story"
I don't usually read nonfiction books. I am so glad that I read this one. What an amazing story of human strength and endurance. I had no idea that the Japanese were so cruel to POWs. I think everybody should read this book.
"Fabulous series"
Beside the storyline, the narrator, Sarah Drew, is absolutely amazing.
Hana's final "normal" act. AND, of course, the very end (don't want to make a spoiler).
Lana, without a doubt.
Made me unable to put it down. I waited quite a while for the third book to be published, got it when it became available, and just listened to it, thoroughly enjoying every part of it.
Better than Hunger Games - so good that I don't have the words to say!!!!
"Brilliant and Amazing"
This was the most amazing, brilliant trilogy I have read in years. It was impossible to put down. The writing was good, the characters relate-able, the story was amazing - I know, I keep saying amazing. I just finished the third book and I am just sitting here in awe of the story. WOW is really the only word that comes to mind. I hope that Richard Phillips continues to write stories like this for years to come. If you like a great science fiction story, that could be happening out your front door as you read this review, then you will love this trio.

"Strange story - but entertaining"
I have never read any of this author's books before. The story was interesting, different, weird, a little unsettling. I could not put it down until I had finished it. BUT the language in this book was awful - does this author not have a large enough vocabulary to use anything other than the "F," "C," "B" and "GD" words? If I "read" a book that has a lot of swearing in it, I can just slide over the words. When I "listen" to a book, I am pummeled with them. I don't think the bad language was necessary for the story or the characters. Possible Spoiler: If I had written the book, I would have ended it differently - more War of the Roses. It was a good book but because of the bad language, I will not read another book by this author.
"Great, but keep the Kleenex handy"
It was good to be back with the Baxter clan.
This was a very good book, the intent being to do a final story on the Baxter family and their friends. The book did do that, but in a way I wish I had not read it. Spoiler: I didn't like what happened to one of the families - it was so sad. I realize tragedy hits everybody but I hate to see it in books, especially this set. I cried through the entire book.
"horrible narrator"
No
Everything
He was so horrible that I had to force myself to listen. The only thing that kept me going was knowing that after I was done with this book, I wouldn't have to listen to him until somewhere near the last book.
I do not understand why publishers use different narrators in a series. Maybe because they couldn't get who they wanted for all of them?? I have never before written a review where I talked about how bad the narrator was - but this guy is so bad, that I almost considered just reading the book. But, I listen to books so that I can do other things at the same time, as I am sure most of us do, so it just wasn't an option.
"OK but......."
I have read almost every book that Karen Kingsbury has ever written. I was really looking forward to listening to this last book in the series. Even though I was disappointed at who Bailey ended up with, my review does not focus on that. My two thoughts when I finished this book were: 1) did I miss a book in the series? (which I didn't) and 2) did Karen Kingsbury really write this book? It just didn't seem like her style and also, there was such a 180 turnaround from Book 3 to Book 4 on people's feelings. I really feel like Karen Kingsbury let us down in this book - maybe she didn't care how it ended, just that it did?? I don't know.
"LOVED this book"
I really loved this book. It reads like a history book about a country's downfall and how the people survived and hopefully, will rise again. I also felt the narrators did a great job. I cannot wait until the second book comes out - I just wish it wasn't going to be a 2 year wait.
