What did you love best about Carnal Innocence?

Being from Mississippi, I am very aware of "southern" books that are not very southern. Nora Roberts did a wonderful job with Mississippi words and everyday phrases. Her description of the area is also spot on.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Carnal Innocence?

In the beginning when Della was scolding the Longstreet children. Most southerners have grown up with a much loved "Della" in their lives. Mine was Arlena and the Della character reminded me of my youth.

What does Tom Stechschulte bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He is awesome! A wonderful narrator.

If you could rename Carnal Innocence, what would you call it?

Not sure, but Delta would be somewhere in the title. The MS Delta is a very rare and wonderful place to visit.

    Any additional comments?

Tucker Longstreet is my favorite character and a typical southern gentleman.

On a damp October night, beautiful young Ashley Cordova is found dead in an abandoned warehouse in lower Manhattan. Though her death is ruled a suicide, veteran investigative journalist Scott McGrath suspects otherwise. As he probes the strange circumstances surrounding Ashley’s life and death, McGrath comes face-to-face with the legacy of her father: the legendary, reclusive, cult-horror-film director Stanislas Cordova - a man who hasn’t been seen in public for more than thirty years.

    Hopper

New York book editor Maris Matherly-Reed knows a best seller when she sees one - even if it is just a tantalizing partial manuscript submitted by a writer identified only as P.M.E., with the return address of an obscure island off the Georgia coast. Maris is intrigued enough to search for him.

Slezak needs to get a better handle on the southern dialect.

Determined to find out what happened to her former deputy chief, Jack Fielding, murdered six months earlier, Kay Scarpetta travels to the Georgia Prison for Women, where an inmate has information not only on Fielding, but also on a string of grisly killings. The murder of an Atlanta family years ago, a young woman on death row, and the inexplicable deaths of homeless people as far away as California seem unrelated. But Scarpetta discovers connections that compel her to conclude that what she thought ended with Fielding's death and an attempt on her own life is only the beginning....

Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes, she banishes the book to the stacks. Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I really enjoyed A Discovery of Witches, but it is a bit to mushy for my taste. The story line was great, but there was too much sappy love stuff for me. The historical content was wonderful. I just don't care much for love at first sight, true love, blah, blah, blah.

Would you be willing to try another book from Deborah Harkness? Why or why not?

Possibly, if I want love that never fails...I read Nicholas Sparks.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The very beginning scene in the library.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    Depends on the cast
