  • There is a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem

    • ORIGINAL (7 hrs and 28 mins)
    • By Dr. Wayne W. Dyer
    • Narrated By Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

With his trademark wit, wisdom, and humor, best-selling author and lecturer Dr. Wayne W. Dyer explains how we can evolve from the lowest level of consciousness (ego) to the highest (unity). Dr. Dyer starts out with a challenge from A Course in Miracles: "You don't have any problems; you only think you do." He goes on to illustrate how the mind can control both physical and emotional well-being, all one has to do is create healthy, positive molecules and move away from negative thoughts.

kimbereley says: "DON'T BE FOOLED! THIS IS NOT THE BOOK!"
    "I confess, I'm a little disappointed..."

I thought I was buying an audio version of the book. Instead I discovered this is a series of lectures he gave after writing the book. I have no idea how much of the book is covered in his lectures, but I'm very disappointed that this wasn't explained on this page before I made the purchase. I much prefer listening to books being read to me. Every time he says "er" or "um" as he grapples with what to say next, it grates on my nerves.

I looked at the book on Amazon - even "looked inside" the print version to see what it was like. This audio version is not the same thing.

This is my first experience reading or listening to Dr. Dyer. I realize he's a very popular speaker and his stories really are great - very touching and meaningful - but now I feel like not only did I pay for this audio, if I ever really want to read the book I'll have to pay again.

  • The Glass Castle

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 14 mins)
    • By Jeanette Walls
    • Narrated By Julia Gibson

This extraordinary memoir from Jeannette Walls is a stirring and distinctive story that has won tremendous critical acclaim. In a starred review, Publishers Weekly applauds the author's "fantastic storytelling knack", saying, "Walls doesn't pull her this excellent, unusual book."

Tracie says: "Stayed Awake Until 5 am to Finish!!!"

I appreciated the opportunity to see the world from the eyes and heart of a child raised in a severely confused and poverty stricken family. The author's mother was a dysfunctional artist who clung to her mate, a dreamer prone to alcoholism. Both parents had affection for their children without being capable of giving them the comfort of a stable lifestyle. The resilience of the children is heart warming.

I thank the author's mother for advising her daughter to tell the truth about her childhood. Thanks to the spirit of honesty, this autobiography stands as a monument to parenting in very difficult circumstances.

The author wrote her story in a very nonjudgmental way; I was sorry to hear judgment in the voice of the reader. Perhaps it was impossible not to let that slip in. This was easy to listen to - sweet and believable.
