"Fun book for thinking dlog lovers"
explains dogs' makeup
description of studies that were able to define the extent and limits of dogs' ability to reason, the reason for the reactions we don't understand and how much we mistakenly ascribe to them.
this is my only one
"too boring to stick it out"
Prosaic, pedantic and judgmental with excessive uninteresting personal observations. maybe this is interesting to others, not me
no
bored me
disappointment and boredom
wasted my credit on this
"Genuine, moving and a part of me now"
Without repeating the information and recommendations of previous reviewers, I'd add that this book shines light on the excellent British traditions in taught and practiced by doctors educated in India. The novel seems straightforward but deepens and complicates with every chapter revealing a symphony of characters, plots, lives, families shot through with the ugly spirit of the times in Ethiopia. The characters become important to us and as the story moves we are also passively tossed by Ethiopia's civil war period.
I cried openly as I drove and at traffic light stops. I've listened again from the beginning and it is only more rich. This author has craft, insight and imagination moving this beautiful story along. Thank you Dr. Verghese.
