Forsyth again proves himself to be the master of suspense. As much as I like to read Clancy, Forsyth blows him out of the water with another masterful tale of heroism and perseverance. The narration is strong and the story is absolutely rivetting. This is well worth the money or one of your monthly book tokens. Truly wonderful. ENJOY!!
This work is as close to a living masterpiece as any of us are want to find. What Ms. Clarke has achieved here is both rare and beautiful. Very few times in your lifetime do you come a cross a piece of fiction that makes you reconsider all that you have judged before it.
With Jonathon Strange and Mr. Norrell, I believe I have found the greatest novel I have ever read. The narration is nothing short of masterful. There is absolutely NO REASON in the world why you should not purchase this title. None whatsoever. Buy. Enjoy.
I wouldn't say this is terrible but it ain't great. The story seems to jump around with a rather tenuous thread holding things together at times. There are some nice scenes but half the time I was trying to my best to piece together their worldwide travels, especially in the 2nd half of the story. Like I said, it's okay. If you want excellence get "Avenger" by Frederick Forsyth or "The Company" by Robert Littell. This is long and very average.
I've reviewed quite a few books here on Audible and this is the only one where I have had cause to complain. This is boring, I mean really boring. The plot is languorous, the characters tiresome and the narration bland. The twist is unbelievably pointless, I was like.....this is it? Buy something else.
A great read. Even better than "Lion's Den". Paul Brenner is a great character and a wisecracking smart-ass to boot. Buy it and enjoy. Another wonderful narration form Scot Brick. He is always excellent.
Brilliant. Outsatnding. Inspiring. Bryson's witty style transfered to everything you'll ever need to know!!
