Like many young idealists, Eric Greitens wanted to make a difference. During college and afterward, he traveled to the world's trouble spots, working in refugee camps, serving the sick and the poor on four continents, from Gaza to Croatia to Mother Teresa's home in Calcutta, among others. Yet he could not prevent violence or save anyone from becoming a refugee; he could only step in afterward and try to ease the damage. So Eric joined the Navy SEALs and became an elite warrior....

"I hope everyone will read this!"
    Overall

This is one of the best books I've read lately. It has inspired me to be better and do better. It tells of many things Eric Greitens has done in the private sector volunteering in remote corners of the world, his Navy Seal training and deployment. His views are uplifting and refreshing. You will not be disapointed, I couldn't turn this book on tape off until it was over and I wished there were 10 more hours to listen to. This is a great listen and I hope everyone decides to listen!

I wish they had reviews about books like they do for movies, then I wouldn't waste my time and money on crap . No a teen book ! Sexual content and violence and gore- hence the rated R rating! Yuck !

It had such great potential! But the story jumped around so much I couldn't follow. The resolution came to quickly after they dwelt on building it up. UGH! I really hoped it would have been better! Sad!

It had the potential to be pretty good, but the author DRONED on about the drones and the grid and the evils of our world. Give it up. The idea of a traveler is cool and having the harliquens protecting them. But it was more about the VAST MACHINE and the evils of computers etc. It crowded out the story. Plus all the details about the deaths were not needed. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. I got it because of the reviews, but I was sadly dissapointed!

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the ten consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Lore says: "Wow - 45 hours long and leaves you wanting more!"
    "Another great book from Sanderson"
    Overall

I agree with other reviews that it was hard to get into at first and I was confused as to what all the recorded accounts of death were about until the very end. But it was worth pushing thru the begginning and I was greatly rewarded with wonderful characters, new places to enjoy , as well as customs and the such. It was well worth your time to listen to this book!

Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Enter Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, the result of decades of genetic experimentation.

Kapila says: "6 titles in the series so far"
    "Not Impressed"
    Overall

I was very sad to see this book so highly rated and find out that it is very crude and full of swear words. Maybe it's a guy book, but being a big sci-fi fan I thought I would really enjoy it. I did not!
It was hard to follow as well. Maybe others will have better luck with it.

When Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy; perhaps it will buy his family meat for the winter. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself.

    Sandra says: "Utterly Awesome!"
    "JRR Tolkien meets Anne McCaffery"
    Overall

Well, the author was only 15 when he started writing and for that young of age, I think he shows talent. With that said, I groaned as heard so many things that were so Lord of the Ring. Putting that aside, not having read Anne McCaffery and her dragonrider series, I thought the story was interesting in that respect. My husband and I did enjoy listening to it and I would recommend it. Lord of the Ring fans beware, it'll hurt your ears frequently. But don't pass it by just because of that, I look forward to the next book because the ending was abrupt. Just take the book for what it is, an budding work of a young man who loves fantasy. I think it's great that he's done what he's done. So give it a try. I actually think he did a great job in developing the story and characters. I think most people will enjoy this book.
