I would totally recommend to Spirit-minded friends who are willing to make improvements in their life. She hits the nail squarely on the head with how things work, in a very no-nonsense way. In fact, she does it in a way that I can easily use her advice in my everyday life immediately, with results.
I would compare this book to The Happy Medium by Jodi Livon. But this book is a little more practical and 'how to' in terms of making changes to your life.
I like having someone talk to me. Reading is something I have to work at since I need reading glasses. LIstening enables me to stop, think, write notes, without much hassle.
I learned to notice the things that block me, and how to move forward and learn from those blocks how to live differently and more authentically. I learned how to protect myself from people's energy. Advice like "Begin to be mindful of the flavor of energy you are putting out into the world today. Is it bitter or sweet?" and "Our role and responsibility in co-creating our lives is asserting what we want for ourselves in the first place. This could be called setting an intention. It's like placing an order (at a reastaurant). Don't interfere with the chef in the kitchen. Be patient and trust that he (the chef) knows what he is doing. Don't interfere with the "how" and the need to feel 'in control' of how it works. This is the act of co-creation. Hand the details over to God."...wow these are great insights and really have me thinking differently about how I will live my life. Your intent is everything. I can also use her exercises over and over to continue to discover whatever is blocking me. Advice I can use for a lifetime. Just a few days ago I did the exercise on 'what is blocking you' and found the answer. Then two days later I saw actions play out in my life and I was able to deal with a situation much better than had I not had that insight. I 'moved forward' and leared from the book what one of my major stumbling blocks was, and saw myself behaving differently due to the information I learned about myself, and was able to overcome this problem!
I would advise listeners to go SLOWLY with this book. Not because there is a lot to do and learn, but because the talking sometimes goes a bit too fast for me and I gloss over things. I have to go back and listen over and over to some passages. BUT the good news is, those passages are full of gold nuggets of information, insights, and a LOT of ah-ha moments for me. An invaluable treasure over and above the practical how-to nature of finding your blocks and living the life you want. I am savoring this book and doing the lists and exercises with genuine desire to move forward and find what is blocking me. I believe with this book, I am doing just that. Truely a treasure!!! Please do yourself a favor if you pick up this book/CD, DO the exercises and don't rush ahead. Be genuine in your desire to change and learn about yourself. That is what the author is really teaching us...to find out about ourselves on a fundamental level, and to embrace a truly genuine and "Spirited" life!
The ambient sounds are alarming and jarring in some instances as someone coughs (on purpose) a few times in a hallway where there are echoing sounds. Not well thought out! Also, the guided tours are great, but not nearly enough time for sitting for 5 or 10 minutes without someone talking. Give the listener a lot more time to sit with just the sounds without someone talking. I get that it is a guided meditation, but bring me there, let me sit for more than a minute or two (like 10 minutes would be great) then start talking again as we come out of it.
