I have been listening to American history subjects like the Brooklyn bridge and transcontinental railroad, and this is also great American history, but it includes too many readings of letters and details that stop being interesting halfway through the book. Now I am slogging through the rest of it hoping he dies soon!
I saw that the reviews were only so-so about this book, but I wanted to listen to JK Rowling's writing again, because the writing for HP was so good. Unfortunately, there just wasn't anything in this story to keep me interested. I stopped after a couple of hours.
Excellent story and reading, but really long on the details, such as the biographies of a lot of engineers, politicians, and businessmen involved with the bridge. Also an hour by hour description of what went on in the caissons beneath the East River. But I listened to every word.
